I'm new to the discussion - but has Simmons ever played a T-Bird like this on stage...in the past 5 years...?

Considering the signature Lzzy Hale Explorer, Dave Rude Flying V, and Nikki Sixx Blackbird models, that are modeled after ones they use live, I have to say the Simmons T-Bird might just be marketing. Not like Gene ever has a hand in that. :smug:

Woulda thought they'd do a GS Ripper or Grabber model instead.
After they announced it, he played a prototype in a concert. Last New Years Eve maybe? The prototype had striking red binding. I guess they decided that was too far out.

Later today I'll be taking a serious look at an Epi Tbird Pro (the active one) with the natural oil finish. Saw it at a nearby music store recently but didn't have time to sit down with it. If all goes well, I'll bring her home... anything I should be on the lookout for on this model? I can handle the normal inspection of electronics and neck, etc... but is there anything specifically problematic on this model? Reviews online seem to be pretty favorable and the sound clips I've heard are exactly the sound I am looking for to use in my coverband. Thanks and hopefully I'll be joining the club!

I wish they would:

1. Makes a reverse in an color other than black/white/sunburst and use the pick-up rings on this model
2. Make the NR with the reverse neck profile
3. Use a 2 piece bridge on both
4. Offer special order (left handed/custom colors/relicing (for those who like it)

and do it all in a semi-consistent fashion.
I think the closest they might come is to offer colors for the ‘23 60th anniversary of the reverse. It would be cool if they were available in IIs and IVs. That may be wishing for too much though. I think the three point is here to stay.

They can make one pre-drilled body(IV's)simplier and charge for 2 pup's(which costs them very little)then the end user can turn off* the superfluous[bridge]pup.
Strangely, if I turn on the bridge pup, my volume decreases. Tone stays about the same. Bad pot? IDK-or GAS. I was f---**ing around with it at a recent gig to see what it did to my sound. Nothing useful.

I think it depends on where you turn the bridge pickup to, when I have mine on with my blend pot it's maybe 1/3 of the way on to sound good to my ear.

there's resistances and alchemy involved but I dunno much about that

I hate multiple pickups, but most everything I have has two....

The bass is old(so am I)-like 1967. I think the pots are original. On the neck pup, I leave it at 10-or 0 on breaks-and occasionally add the bridge pup. Which I then turn back off. By itself the bridge pup sounds like a weak guitar down an octave. I'm happy with the sound of the neck pup so I'm not gonna bother checking out the bridge pup/pot.

rip that sucker out and spackle over the hole

It's Wednesday, time for The Darkness, just don't take them too seriously.

When I first saw the "thing called love" video I honestly thought it was some kind of a "spinal tap" kind of thing...

nope just good ole boys playing rock-n-roll....

I still haven't delved into their music as much as I should....

Good basses, Really solid construction. Double check that the bridge anchors are all the way in the body, and if she has some scratchy pots you may need to get some detox it
