Thunderbird Club

Yah, I've had them for years!
That can be addressed. ;)

There are some odd things that turn up in the search...

Do they even have an estimate? Have other colours been available?

I have had the green Epiphone Embassy bass on order since march, other colours have come and gone recently but the green isn’t expected until July.

my burgundy NR isn’t expected until July also. I think I got lucky with my green and got the last one that came in.
There was a “used” burgundy NR at the Calgary L&M last month.

I just left the holes alone. There is a witness mark where the old tuner was a slightly different shape, too. That doesn't bother me at all. The Flamingo is nothing like a stock original Thunderbird any more, so a few extraneous holes are OK with me.

A few more grams buoyancy in the headstock!

An Epi setup surprise -
I found a 2nd hand T-Bird for sale locally and for once, at a very good price. Using 2 hands, I quickly checked for neck relief and it looked ok.
At home it played just fine too but like many have discovered when they acquire a 'Bird, the action was high. The screws on the 3 point bridge were fully bottomed. I reviewed all my notes and checked many YouTube setup videos for T-Birds. I've set up many Fenders and Gibsons too. I was pretty much resigned to needing a shim to bring the action into spec. Worst case, I figured I may need to buy one of those improved bridges that drop in as a replacement for a 3 point bridge.
The moral of this post: don't trust a visual assessment.
I did the right thing and set out to check all the settings using feeler gauges, etc. I checked the relief and found it was way too high. I adjusted the truss rod - it needed a fair bit of tightening... and Voila! action returned to normal. I even had to raise the bridge a tiny amount.
So, one key adjustment and things came into spec. I learned a valuable lesson - measure. Visual guesses don't cut it.

Congrats, sir! Might we have a photo or three, please?

Personally, I'd prefer the 3-point.
Turns out, I'm not a huge fan of the two-piece (like what the VP has.....) :bag:
I’m kinda liking the Greco configuration of a three point with a hard tail. Seems to solve the auto extracting stud problem as well as the silks on saddle problem and with a bridge cover still looks fairly retro.
