Thunderbird Club

The current screw came with the bass, so the length is fine. I'll look, but filing the head might damage the slots. Stripping a head inside a button would not be fun.
I do this all the time, never had any issues. Here’s a how to post I put out some time ago…

Note: you may find that the head of the neck screw is too large to fit down in the strap pin opening like it should. If that's the case, just chuck the threaded end of the neck screw up in a hand drill...

...pull the trigger and touch the screw head edge to the concrete floor in your garage or driveway for a second or two (it won't take long, just do a little bit at a time) until it fits down in the strap pin recess.

On the way! How do I put in a reservation for a '64 or '65 reverse Thunderbird?
LOL - see ya soon! Unfortunately, I’m fresh out of early Thunderbirds, but I could work a very sweet deal for you on a wonderful 1968 Fender P bass or maybe a 1979 PreEB Stingray or a 1974 Mustang Guitar. How’s about a steal on a mint SVT-VR or a Bergantino 610. Heck, I’ll even throw in a H&K all tube Rotosound pedal if you’re into that Leslie effect.

nothing like a good ole english fry up and a big pot of tea after a night of TBird action….

OK, my cousin used to be CEO of Heinz Europe. I was in England and called him up for a visit. He sent over his driver to pick me up. I get to the lobby and see a guy holding a Heinz sign. I ask "are you the catsup guy?" and he responds in dry British, "no sir, baked beans."

Have to say, loving the tones the producer got this time around. Check out this isolated rhythm section:

Sounds great. :bassist: I'm going do a one-on-one with the engineer who will be recording my band next month to get specific bass tone for each of the four songs we will be recording. One fretless, one hollow-body and the other two standard 4-string. Possibly four different basses, but at least three different. Also thinking about double-tracking. Really looking forward to it.

I swear by double tracking bass:
1) DI - can manipulate to blend in a specific feeling/tone
2) Amp - Gives you a natural bass (pun intended) to build off of for consistency

Here he is just changing the amount of drive on the 1st DI track to give the dynamic I was looking for. I also love the DI to bring in the articulation of the "picking" of the notes in driving lines when the mic on the amp sometimes is "too smooth" and gets drowned out in the mix getting muddy.

Sounds great! Really tight yet full of grit and grind. Can’t wait to hear it in the full mix.

Thanks man! The Epiphone TBird VP sounds so damn good recorded.

We're knee deep in mixing this second record now. Doing some overduds and touch up sessions tonight, should hopefully put a wrap on everything. Looking forward to releasing this one

I both go through a DI and mic my B15 (in isolation) So far am getting really great tone but for these songs I think double tracking will land what I'm hearing in my head.

 hate to break it to you dude but my grandsons wear birkenstocks, Uggs and Crocs…

I have a pair of Uggs black leather ankle boots which I love. You wouldn't know they are Uggs - at least not the "trademark" looking Uggs.
