Actually yes! Forgot about those... Thanks for the reminder. Yeah...
Still open to suggestions though!
Also Cobalt flats, a little more flex then the Dunlop’s.
They may be flats but have the tone of rounds

You could just buy TI Jazz Flats, plenty bendy and they sound great. However, my experience on fast fretting complex songs is that floppy isn’t a good thing, it slows me down. A lighter gauge EB Cobalt flat is what I’d be after. A bit easier to fast fret and bend without feeling floppy and slowing you down.Actually yes! Forgot about those... Thanks for the reminder. my (long gone) '66 J through a Sunn Colisseum Lead at the '98 E-mu Systems company picnic.....should have NEVER let that bass go....Every time I think another bass will out-tone it... I play it and am reminded it rules the roost. I just saw this recent Wilco performance at the Austin City Limits Music Awards ceremony. [1:05:43] Austin City Limits | Austin City Limits 7th Annual Hall of Fame Honors (90 min) Listen to the Jazz bass tone (I'm guessing it's a late '65) through an Ampeg amp, and tell me that isn't a great bass tone. (and of corse awesome guitar playing by Nels Cline*)
* I don't know this as a fact, but I think the cool red retro-looking guitar Nels is playing has a Spitfire pg. My Oly white '66 J sports one - Mark's hand painted tort pg's are better in most ways than original '60s tort, which unlike todays dot-photo reproductions of faux tort (too far removed from tortoise shell) are giving tort a bad name. If curious - check out his website - Login • Instagram (apparently his website is under re-construction)
After scanning Mark's Instagram link - I saw two guitars like Nels' that had Spitfire pg's... I was correct! (not sure who makes the retro-guitars... but they are cool!)

Just off the top of my head...Non-Sequitur (as usual!)...
Bass strings! I'm looking for something that's flexible, easier to bend than a stocky hex-core Rotos type thing.
I'm going to do a gig with a band with tunes that have a lot of high-energy, rapid-fire bass lines, and I'm in the pinch to get them all learned asap.
There are bends, position changes, repetitive and involved fingerings, and I think lightening up on the work load for the 'auld digitals' is a good idea.
So something with teeth that behaves a little more like Thomastik-Infeld Jazz Flats is what I'm looking for.
This is for the Thunderbird CP, my best weapon for this assault-style set... Thanks for sharing your wisdom, which is what we do here, and what I'm talking advantage of...![]()

Fantastic Chuck! Geddy and Chris Squire would hope to sound that good! And great playing.my (long gone) '66 J through a Sunn Colisseum Lead at the '98 E-mu Systems company picnic.....should have NEVER let that bass go....
I’m kinda with you on that one. If there was a floppy scale from one to ten with ten being the most floppy, I’d put them at about a five, which is noticeable but not problematic for me. DR Silver Stars I’d put at about a six or seven, which was problematic. Boomers with the hex core I’d put at about a three or four along with Cobalt flats, which aren’t noticeably floppy at all, but do feel stiffer than some strings.Oddly enough, for me anyway.
I love TI’s, and they never felt floppy to me. But most say they feel that way.
^^This. EBCFs. They're bendy enough for me.Ernie Ball Cobalt Flats. "I put that [stuff] on everything". Like Frank's Hot Sauce.
Man, you have some beautiful basses.
