I'd sure make an offer if I were looking for one. But I prefer the IVs. Other than the neck repair, I'm happy to see that mine looks to be in a little better shape.

I always wonder about heavily checked finishes - my '64 II is pretty clean in that respect. Checking like that is usually an indication of extremes in temperature over many years. It won't have any effect on the sound, and I'm not against the "distressed" look as some of you may know. :) SHOW YOUR DISTRESSED FINISHES!

No kidding! Those guys could screw up an iron ball with a rubber hammer these days.
Our place is the end of the street. Our house in on one side of the street but we actually own what is across the street from our drive. There is no proper turnaround. So literally we own the end of the street. The latest rendition of a Fedmess driver tries to back into our drive by pulling into the grass across from our drive (still our yard, and hard to picture I know). So he pulls up int the grass turns his wheels and backs up into the drive backwards from everyone else--leaving ruts in the grass. Big ruts since its wet from snow melting and heavy rain. Does the low IQ driver not see that as a problem? About three times now. So I gathered three good size rocks from the creek and placed on the edge of the grass. They are brown so not much contrast from the grass right now. If he's too stupid to notice he's going to hear some awful noise and maybe get hung up. I hope. I haven't wasted time calling India to talk to a human about it.

It looks great. I didn't realize you bought a brand new one. When you try that one, you may find that your concerns about neck dive will disappear. Or maybe they won't. That's the one thing about bolt-on Epiphones. They sure sound good with the right strings, and they are Thunderbirds.

Thanks.
Played for some minutes, even with stock strings, has a nice growl.
Neckdive?
Put strap on, with Daddario strap lock, and there it is; but doesn´t matter, now I´m a TBirder :D

Congrats!
Thanks

That ‘66 JBass has got me all weak in the knees.
Blasphemy, I know.

Every time I think another bass will out-tone it... I play it and am reminded it rules the roost. I just saw this recent Wilco performance at the Austin City Limits Music Awards ceremony. [1:05:43] Austin City Limits | Austin City Limits 7th Annual Hall of Fame Honors (90 min) Listen to the Jazz bass tone (I'm guessing it's a late '65) through an Ampeg amp, and tell me that isn't a great bass tone. (and of corse awesome guitar playing by Nels Cline*)

* I don't know this as a fact, but I think the cool red retro-looking guitar Nels is playing has a Spitfire pg. My Oly white '66 J sports one - Mark's hand painted tort pg's are better in most ways than original '60s tort, which unlike todays dot-photo reproductions of faux tort (too far removed from tortoise shell) are giving tort a bad name. If curious - check out his website - Login • Instagram (apparently his website is under re-construction)

After scanning Mark's Instagram link - I saw two guitars like Nels' that had Spitfire pg's... I was correct! (not sure who makes the retro-guitars... but they are cool!)

Or...
Couldn't pour pee out of a bucket with the directions on the bottom.
Would mess up a two care funeral.

One my Dad always said: Couldn't grab their butt with both hands.

All good descriptions of Fedmess.

I say “some people could shag up a poopie sammich” at least 3 times a day.

Mine has some very fine checking on the body, but the headstock has none.

Mine has no checking whatsoever. It has some clear-coat deformities by what looks like a strap or (?) on the back which were on it when I got it in '78. (who knows? who cares?) :) :bassist:

My original whit/blk/wht pg is in VGC also - no breaks or cracks.
