Congrats to our Queen! A checkmark next to that bucket list item.

I've been thinking a lot lately about investing in one of these. I saw it pop up and came here to see if anyone (especially our queen or Scott) were on it. Sure enough. But I guess I should go ahead and discuss with my wife so when the opportunity does pop up...

I'm with you. I can eat fungus, but never had any that made me want seconds. The exception being when their "flavor" was completely covered up by something that had taste.

*And I like Limburger Cheese, so I can eat some weird stuff.

these were lovely little Champignons fried up in butter.

Got behind here.

Happy Birthday Geoff!

Thanks Marshall!

Yes - it looks cool! As I said - I very much like the way checking looks. Natural flexing/movement of aged lacquer has a way of creating beautiful filigree. It can be created on a new lacquer finish - MJT des a nice job of it. (BMM J) Then there is craquelure (my finish on a '68 Silvertone Hornet) and (original) on a late '60s Dano 12-string. This is caused by shooting lacquer over a 'false dried' lacquer base colour. (in my case red over black) It becomes this while you watch (pretty cool) and can be accelerated by forced air. (hair-dryer set on 'air' - or a compressor) Depending on how the top coat is sprayed - you will get fine texture or a more open texture. (as the two examples illustrate)

That crackling is very cool

Well, it's done.
Glad I have a very understanding husband.

Well played V! Sure to go up in value.

So here’s where the test mule (LocoMule) science project is at:

Yes that’s an SG/EB pickup at the neck/Rick position. Cause why not

By itself, glorious beautiful, but thick tone. Not like a mudbucker though

With a touch of bridge, adds mids and clarity, but not a ton

In cancellation, it’s one of the weirdest pissed of bridge plucked heavy sound. Very cool, not a lot of output or low end

that middle position. With a little neck rolled in, it’s aggressive but smooth. By itself? It’s angry AF. I like it

Looks like a very successful test!
So do you plan to try different pups or are you pretty much sold on that configuration?
Also, you can get some pretty significant tone changes by playing with different cap values. Assuming you have .047uf in there right now. You might try a .022 or a .068 cap to see how it opens up or darkens up the sound and impacts the tone and volume knobs. It’s a quick easy test using alligator clips to find the cap you like, then once you’ve got it figured out you can solder it in.

I wish I had a bucket of pups, I’d like to try stuff and see. Only .047 in the house at the moment. But you always said you needed a test sled, and I liked the idea
Here’s the spacing for those following from that earlier convo

For me…
Traditional Reverse body style
Raised center section on the front only, full body and belly contour on the back (Spector/Warwick style)
Set neck or Neck through
3 pickups
Mudbucker at the neck under a TB cover, Tbird pups at the center and bridge positions all with split coil capability
Gold or Nickel hardware
Standard Tbird pickguard in black with gold or chrome logo to match the hardware
Visible wood grain stains in blonde, blue, Mary Kay, lava burst, ghost burst; solid colors to match original 1960’s offerings.

Let the polling begin!

Body style: NR

Number of pickups: Always liked 2. The single Bird humbucker in the middle position of the LocoMule is making me question that

Type of pickup: thunderbird traditional

Colour: Gloss black or a blueberry type blue. That Gun metal suggestion though.... oh my
