Don't because it won't. Buy another Thunderbird instead. Buy a '64. That seems to be all the rage these days.Almost makes me want to resume my quest for a Ric that feels good to me. Almost.
They don't take up much space.
gone….must have been nice…
If you come across a 70’s MIJ neck through copy, grab it.Almost makes me want to resume my quest for a Ric that feels good to me. Almost.
evolution of that ‘13…isn’t it @Chucky Stiletti that has the NR with the clear scratchplate? I think none or clear, but with the woodstock logo….

Almost bought it. What better way to inspire a build?gone….must have been nice…
I think if I keep typing 60th Anniversary Edition it will happen. In Pelham Blue.
That's the hottness right there. Did you make the body? If not where did you get it? I have a project that needs a nice T-Bird body but can't find a supplier that will provide my options. The BlingBird finally makes it on Thunderbird Thursday, sorry about the poor pics, no good light this time of day…

Pretty much all together now, mostly just strings and setup left.
First impressions (with totally shot black beauties temporarily installed and no time for a set up) She sounds awesome! The neck pup is as expected nice and creamy and very hot (a real Jack Bruce tone), the center pup is throaty with punch (not far off the Greco in vibe) and the bridge pup is actually very useable (sounds exactly like Chris Squire’s tone on Owner of a Lonely Heart). All three pups full on is a very full content rich sound. All in all - I’m very pleased with the initial preliminary results. Once the Optima strings are on and the set up is complete with pup heights properly adjusted to balance each output she should be a real gem.
Odds and ends left to do - Install a string tree (on order), shim the neck, widen a couple of the claw grooves, install spacers under the trim rings (on order), install Optima Gold strings strings (delivered today) and do a good set up.

I like the white pg/black body look - but the "black is black" look looks good also!
The evolution keeps getting better and better, that clear scratchplate makes it one of the best looking bursts yet.
It’s so nice to see your let your great-great grandpa play your bass in that first picture.

……you belong here..But the Texan did a double neck didn't he?![]()
How did you make the B pu-surround screw holes disappear?
Probably screw heads glued into place on a trim ring with adhesive backing. At least that’s how I’d do it.How did you make the B pu-surround screw holes disappear?
like GBassNorth said, double sided tape, cut the screw heads off and cyanoed them onto the ring holes…How did you make the B pu-surround screw holes disappear?
So kind of you. I’ll have to keep the offer in mind (lol).Well thought out. You should have designed things for a living.I think you should make a few more. I'll be your distributor East of the Mississippi at no charge. Just send me a couple and I'll try to sell them. But don't expect quick sales. I'll need to play them out to attract attention. These things take time. Two sent my way should be good for starters.

The supplier was Gluff Guitars on eBay (may also have a Facebook or Etsy site). It’s a semi hollow body with a tummy cut flat poplar back, frame and center block and a figured maple top with raised center section. I elected to only have a neck pocket and control cavity route. The quality and the price were very good. That's the hottness right there. Did you make the body? If not where did you get it?
