Why brass when the others are not? Beautiful work.Thanks! I've done a couple as "lost cause" including that one. Regardless of condition, I try to find ones that have as many original parts as possible. Some parts are nearly impossible to find.
...like a missing roller-saddle from 1963 Britain. Fabricated one out of brass. Four holes are for a string-mute bar - missing and still searching for one.

Brass is relatively easy to work - steel is harder. A lot of bridge saddles and some bridges are made of brass and then nickel plated. Brass is a good metal for bridges. (nuts also) With a RI bridge cover - Bob's yer' uncle.

What kind of fake mikes do you use with fake cabinets?
I bought a stock Epi rectangular case for my BO. It worked just fine for the BO and later for the CP.
Brass is much easier to work than steel! I was just surprised at the visual jar. But the bridge cover uncled my (and the saddle’s) bob just fine.
Do you need fake mic cables? Will you get an impedance mismatch to the mixer if you don’t have fake cables? I’ve never seen a mixer with a fake channel. I have seen mixers with fake sound guys.
It does fit well in the older rectangular cases - it's the newer style case that it doesn't fit great, for some reason
Fortunately, I've got plenty of Thunderbirds that fit that case, and it's the only one the VP fits in, so it hasn't been too much of a problem

Many times it comes down to plating. $$$ I had a bridge cover fabricated for my Coral Deluxe Bass locally of stainless so I wouldn't have to go the added route of nickel-plating steel. (as an original would be)
Not "authentic" looking compared to the nickel-plated steel control plate - but it spends its life in the OHSC as covers (for me) get in the way of playing. Did it for "photo-op"/continence sake. Used it last night for a jam session through my tc electronics BG250 112 and it rocked!

Original either early '60s Danelectro Dane or later '60s Coral Deluxe Bass w/bridge cover.

Just as I’m contemplating a couple of nice bass purchases this year, my hot water heater bites the dust.
Plumber says about $6000 to replace it. My home warranty will cover about $4500 of it but code updates and misc work will be out of pocket.

My. That is one expensive Hot Water Heater.
Just got home from doing errands, decided to do a bit of experimenting....
The current occupant of the new-style Epi-case fits pretty perfectly:
The "Brownbird", however....
if I press it in firmly, it will go, with a gap on the other side (all my bolt-ons are like this)
The Blackbird fits fine:
...as does the "Redbird":
The VP fits pretty well...
....but not perfectly:
I'm always tempted to believe it's the strap button at the neck heel...especially since the CP fits exactly the same way:
there seems to be a pad under the neck heel, that's not in the older cases I have, that interferes with the heel strap button...
(doesn't seem super clear in the pic )
However, the gap at the upper strap button location is less....
So, I guess the end result is....sorry for the long post with too many pics?
...on an unrelated? note, getting those pictures done, while keeping the more annoying/clingy of my cats out of the case, was a bit challenging

The white bird has a lovely coloured/grained fb.
Pretty typical around here for a 75gal forced air vent water heater with an expansion tank (that my old one didn’t have) and a new pressure regulator (that actually works) for the main water line coming into the house.
