Thunderfunk arrives!

Well, I went and did it, I should be recieving a TFB550 from Dave in a week or two.

Right now it feels like an impulse buy but I have been very close to getting and auditioning the TFunk for a while now.

I'll be running my Sadowsky RV5 and Epifani 410UL or Bergantino HT112 pair.

I'm hoping that in a few weeks I'll be reporting back and thanking all of the previous posters on this thread for pushing me over the edge! We will see....

Very cool! Let us know how you like it. The TF into the 410UL 4ohms is my favorite amp/speaker combo of all time!

Heh.. Thanks alot Ken!

With statements like this I think you share a good amount of the blame/credit for my end of the year purchase.

At least I have you guys cheering me on while I'm skeptically waiting for delivery.

If that combination of bass, amp and cab(s) doesn't kill, we may need to redefine the word. Good luck.

Well I'm looking for something a little different than my current sound/tone with Walter Woods Ultra into the 410UL. So I hope notice some of the differnces that have been reported here at TB between these two amps.

I do double as well and wonder what will happen with my DB into the TFB550 in comparison to the WWU.

Can't speak to the DB issue but IME the TF does have a different vibe from the WW with an electric. I prefer the TF hands down. YMMV

+1!!

I have used my TFunk with an Epi 310, the Bergie Mini stack and A Sadowsky MV5, NYC Vintage 4 Alder/Morado and a NYC Vintage 4 Ash/Maple and it killed with ALL of them!!

The Tfunk has heavier balls than the WW and to me, a much more organic and open tone but with no para EQ at all! Just turn the timbre and enhance to taste and go!

You will love it!

Peace,

T

I know how you feel ... I bought a TFB550 + AccuG Tri112L 3 months ago. You'll love the sound.

I would be interested in your initial experiences with the amp. I noticed that when the amp is shut off, it seems to discharge through the speakers ... there is a scraping rumble that occurs about 30 seconds after shutdown, that goes on for about 30 seconds. This has slowly gone away as I put more hours on the amp. Also, the power consumption was initially up to about 220 watts when the amp was on but not used ... it has since dropped to about 60 watts ...

....there seems to be a break-in that occurs with the electronics. I'm interested in knowing whether others notice this.

hahah! My 420 squeels like a pig, no lie. Not only does it come out of the speaker, but it also comes out the DI. Really freaked me out the first two times.

I pair mine w/ an EBS NEO 1x12, but I wasn't very happy. The EBS sounds great with my EBS head, but not a good match for the TFB. I picked up Tommixx's used Accugroove Tri210L, but haven't used it out a church yet. Soon! So far, the living room test drive worked out great. I kind of wish the 210 had a tweeter/horn control, but no big deal. Oh, and it is a little big to transport in my accord.

The TFB is very flexible, but you definitely get out what you put it. No hidding a terrible sounding bass here!

westland and sean,

i'd call/email dave ASAP. amps shouldnt do that.

Actually, I told Dave about it when I first received it. I even sent it to him to check it out and apply a few upgrades. Mine was the demo model at Bass Central, and as you know, they are no longer a dealer. Dave said he couldn't reproduce it, and he sent it back to me. However, it still does it for me every time....and it is loud! heh
