too bad the 3015 is an 8ohm

i need a 4ohm

Was there a 4 ohm EVM-15L? I thought those were 8 ohm. Are you building a new box or replacing an 8 ohm EVM-15L, and want a 4 ohm driver that sort of sounds like the old EV's?

From Eminence, the Kappa 15C, Basslite C2515, Legend CA154 are 4 ohm drivers (info from usspeaker.com...eminence may have different specs.)

i was at first considering getting 1 4ohm 15 to dump the full load into 1 cab. (less to carry around)

i have now decided to keep both 15 cabs, but try to get matching speakers in them so the volume coming out of them is more even. right now the dietz is louder than the trace.

my original interest was finding a new speaker like the evm-15L because i like the way mine sounds but it is old and should probably be replaced.

is there a modern equivalent to said model?

hartke 3500 350 watts @ 4 ohms

...

According to the manual (Invalid Link Removed), the HA3500 is rated 240 watts into 8 ohms and 350 watts into 4 ohms. If you took two otherwise identical cabinets, the amp pushing the 4 ohm cabinet wouldn't be noticably louder than the same amp pushing the 8 ohm cabinet. That's why I questioned the "need" for a 4 ohm speaker.

If you added a second speaker, you gain a lot of sensitivity due to the added cone area and acoustic coupling of the two sources. I'm told that adding the second speaker gives you 3 dB and coupling of the two together gives you another 3 db. Adding 6 dB is like four times the amplifier power.

just the info i needed thank you!

I am interested in building one of these for use with a V4B. I'm thinking about the 3015. Anyone use these with a 100 watt tube head? I need a single 15 for when I don't want to shlep the 2x15 around.

I love running my tube amps through my TL606.

I have a V4B (100W), an SVT (300W) and a Guild Thunderbass (60-80W). They all sound great paired with the TL box, which I built to spec from the old EV plans, coated with Truck bed liner and loaded with an EVX-155

I will post up pictures later tonight. Also, I will happily email you sound clips of an old Fender P with flats through the V4B and the TL cab if you pm me with your email address.

adding a crossover and a midrange speaker will not change the cab's impedance. it would still be an 8 ohm cab.

if you were to build a xover and midrange in a seperate cab, then plugging that in to my amps other output wouldnt overload said xover and midrange?

just thinking that my amp would then kick 175watts into each cab, and how would that cross over be able to process the freq accepted and distribute them to both cabs?

I'm interested in building one of these to go mate with a Fender Bassman 300. I don't anything about WINid. I was wondering, if I changed the internal deminsions from 14x22.25x17.75 to 13x24.5x17.75, how much would this change the volume, tuning, etc. I am planning to add inset handle and casters, that will take up some of that added volume. Thanks for any input.
