This is my TL606 "kit," and once again my favorite cab...

Recently I stuck the TL806 on top for an outdoor gig. What fun!

Hey, are those 12's and 15's? I've never seen plans for 12's? Where did you find them?

Indeed they are. All are loaded with the Eminence "BassLite" (now called DeltaLites I think) neodymium speakers. Check the URL BillyB posted for plans. Just divide the TL806Q and TL606Q plans in half for 2x12 and 2x15 plans respectively. Wish EV had 10" plans as well...

too bad the 3015 is an 8ohm

i need a 4ohm

Add a midrange and a crossover. Problem solved.
Wrong!

adding a crossover and a midrange speaker will not change the cab's impedance. it would still be an 8 ohm cab.
Right!

if you were to build a xover and midrange in a seperate cab, then plugging that in to my amps other output wouldnt overload said xover and midrange?

just thinking that my amp would then kick 175watts into each cab, and how would that cross over be able to process the freq accepted and distribute them to both cabs?
Doesn't work that way. The first stop for the amp's output signal would be the crossover. It would then distribute the appropriate frequencies to the correct drivers, regardless if they are in one box or two.

I took this pic off an earlier post when I ran out headroom... now that I've upgraded my membership, I'm re-posting.

It's currently loaded with a Kapalite 3015. This cab sound very good with a M-Pulse 300 and I use it for rehearsals, recording and a surprising number of gigs.

I've got a very similar Mesa 1x15 cab. Except its pre diesel series. Un-tolexed (painted) and the grill is not recessed, its sticks out of the front by about an inch.

Ok so question for everyone who built their own and tolexed it. How hard is this to get a great looking tolex finish? It seems difficult with the port and everything. Thanks.

As it has been written...you have to take your time. Make sure you paint the cabinet with a tolex covered paint anywhere there will be a seam so that little gaps don't show bare wood underneath. Also, the use of a very sharp knife makes all the difference in the world (I typically use an Xacto No. 1 knife with a brand new blade).

The other thing I did was to extend the port shelf forward so that it's flush with the front of the cabinet. That way, the grille is bounded by tolex all the way around and to my eye, it looks much better.

Since my last post, I picked up this cab... Works so very well with the Sunn head that I am in the process of acquiring materials to build a mate... When it is complete, I'll strip the carpet off this one and paint both with bed-liner...

Anyone use a Mesa M6 or M9 to drive their 1x15 or 2x15 cabs?

I'd think either of these amps would sound great with a TL-606 type cab (especially with the Em 3015) -- tight, but powerful low end and aggressive upper mids (probably similar to the Carvin B1500 only more so).

I use my M6 to drive a Trace Elliot 2x15 (with one EV 15BX). It works great. :bassist:

With gain at 9:00 or 10:00 and voice control on 4 (light mid bump) it gives me a great low mid tone, very rock-esque, with my p-bass.
