I know...I know! Find that chip! If it has a shape like...I don't know...maybe the state of Montana, George Washington's head or something, you could eBay it and get a whole bunch of money! See? ...always come to me when disaster strikes. I'll set you straight and you don't even have to pay me.

If you can't find it, or the shape is nothing to be excited about...well, you are SOL.

I am writing big because I am excited about the possibilities for you with this.

As I recall you posted a picture of a snowflake in response to the OP. So I'm not quite sure where you come from with your posts, it doesn't seem to be humorous just trollish. What's really funny as I've been responding to you I have been LMFAO.

Obviously we've derailed the thread long enough and I'm sure we've both come off as a couple of jerks to the rest of the forum.

With that I'll exit the thread and retain what little dignity I have left. Enjoy your evening and keep up the great work you do here @Vinnie Boombatz .
FWIW, that snowflake has a piece missing too. :roflmao:

This happens a lot. You really have to be super careful removing the neck. It's unfortunate but it's not going to play or sound any different. It's probably not even visible from more five feet away. Any of us who've snapped off the headstock are envious of you right now. ;)

Haha! You see, it doesn't work that way. You are not leaving this thread with any dignity. You didnt enter it with dignity and you're just as bad as me, and I'll be the first one to say I have no cooth, and you my friend are just as bad, albeit wrapped just a tad to tight!

I don't understand the aggressive trolling on this thread. I'm with #two fingers here. It sucks to lose a hunk of finish from a nice bass, and anyone who says it wouldn't bug them is lying. OP was venting. "First world problem" is such a cowardly cheap shot under the circumstances, as is posting a snowflake. Does it really turn you guys on to insult and belittle somebody when you see the opportunity? It has nothing to do with being couth or uncouth. To go out of your way to score a point off the OP or another poster is just being an a$$hole. And it really makes you look desperate for attention, especially when you then go after another poster. Re-read your posts. What are you trying to accomplish? Are you jealous that the OP has a nice bass in the first place? This place sometimes feels like a 7th grade cafeteria.

On a more serious note, this is sort of a rite of passage with a Fender guitar or bass. Sometimes even if you're super careful it still happens. Really, it's nothing to lose sleep over. If you're not comfortable with having that happened take it as a lesson learned and take it to a pro next time and have them do it.

Well, I did it on my $2,000 Fender 52AVRI Telecaster and could have cared less, so are you calling me a liar? I dont baby my instruments, and also do not abuse them. I have more important things to fret about (pun intended) and dont lose sleep over dents, chips and dings.

And we're calling it a hunk now? I thought the OP said it was a chunk? Isn't a hunk bigger than a chunk?

Thank you good sir for so eloquently putting this in words. I know I said I would exit the thread, but this post was too good and thoughtful not to like or reply to. Well said and thanks again.

I cant believe some of the comments here. Isn't this a forum for bass players to discuss their instruments and love of all things bass related? I wonder then why all the negative comments are being thrown around when someone, who obviously looks after their bass and wants to keep it in good condition, has a chip taken out of it when they are repairing or setting it up?

Do you guys never make mistakes or care about your possessions. I bet you've all got something you dont want damaged.

"First world problem" is such a cowardly cheap shot under the circumstances

But it's a true "cowardly cheap shot"

A chipped finish due to one's own carelessness certainly doesn't warrant "All is lost. Jesus I'm ready to go."

It's just a chipped finish.

I sincerely hope the very minor annoyance of a chipped finish will be the only "problem" you'll have to deal with in life.

Actually, you did cross the line with this post. It's pretty simple, post what you like and however you like to do it. Your replies came off as condescending, nasty and disrespectful. Unfortunately I gobbled up your bait and ran with it. But, don't ever question a person's dignity based off of a Bass guitar forum's posting content. You certainly don't know me and really have no reason to judge or measure me to any level.

I certainly went back on my word of exiting the thread, but man you really know how to stir it up.

I actually didn't think he was 100% serious in those last two sentences, they were so over the top. But I could be wrong. It's not always easy to tell with online postings.
