I wish that I could bake a cake made out of rainbows and smiles and we'd all eat it and be happy.

Someone would surely take offense to that for one reason or another though. Maybe someone who hates cake or rainbows.

I cant believe some of the comments here. Isn't this a forum for bass players to discuss their instruments and love of all things bass related? I wonder then why all the negative comments are being thrown around when someone, who obviously looks after their bass and wants to keep it in good condition, has a chip taken out of it when they are repairing or setting it up?

I care about my possessions and take care of them, but don't obsess or worry if a bass or guitar gets a chip or a ding. There are starving kids in China for poops sake. I dont have time to worry about no dings!

I'm reminded of the time I took my Rickenbacker 4004 in to the shop. I picked it up from the case & promptly hit the headstock on one of the case buckles/latches.
The luthier was just gawking at me with this surprised look on his face & I pretended like I didn't care, but as soon as I got it home I was looking for the nick I must have caused.
That's when I realized how soft the lacquer is on Rickenbackers.

I had a fantastic day. Didnt have to work. Slept in. Took a really rewarding dump, showered, cooked a chicken, went to the gym and spent way too much time on here. Oh yeah, I also played my basses.

I'm convinced that no other bass looks as good with damage than a Fender, possibly a Gibson. I'd not worry about it. Here's mine, all damaged up in its beautiful glory. I look forward to more wear on it.

Edit: I don't think anyone here has ever seen Mean Girls. Or Joe Dirt.

It's so much more genuine when the scars are random and accidental.
But you're right come to think of it, pristine Fenders just don't look right.
