He always was and always will be my god, dearl lord he is good... I am in the prosess of listning to Ultravisitor REALLY loudly, and I am loving every blissfull db! Definetly his best work yet.... His playing is so damn dynamic he makes jaco lool like a jackoff...

I saw him at Trees in Dallas a couple of nights ago and this man is AWESOME! He mixes bass playing with electronic music in a way that fits so well, and he is actually a pretty darn good bassist! I was just wondering what some other opinions were of him on this board.

you serious? he is a total monster, given the style of music he makes, frenetic drum and bass, he shreds like a mad. Some of the rippingist ripping I've ever heard.

then, on the flip side of that, some of his harmonic ballads are just unreal.

And he knows when to just hold it down with strong solid basslines.

I think Hard Normal Daddy proved that. A very musical approach through a medium (electronic music/drum and bass) which doesn't always lend itself to it or that type of music.

I just saw him live in Atlanta, the guy is a monster at all he does. I drove from Ft Lauderdale to see him and it was totally worth it . It is very hard to impress me lately with bass playing, but he tore ****e up. He was'nt just doing just fast bass playing, although a lot was up tempo. He used some sounds that I have'nt heard anyone else use on bass as well.

He played a 6 string bass(looked very warwickish) with 3 barts and a roland midi pickup which went to a v-bass I believe. It was hard to see what he was doing since he was behind a rack of gear. He also played a Music Man Sabre. Most of his technique was with his thumb from what I saw. Up and down strokes, like he was using it as a pick. He used a Sony Viao laptop to control and manipulate most of his music. Words don't do him justice, go check him out if he is in your area.

in both bassplaying and compositional spheres alike. Makes wonder why I even bother at times. Inspires me when I'm on form.

Here's a question to anyone who's seen him recently. How did He do "Iambic pentamter 9"?- What instrument was he actually playing? Does he have a drum kit too? :hiding:

What other tracks did he play?

He plays Bass ,piano, drums and guitar(though on ultravisitor it's all bass), as well as drum programming, synthesizers, and sampling.

His live shows are very different from albums because his albums have so much overdubbing with live instruments, usually at a live show he'll set up some stuff with his sequencers then pound out some bass, twiddle some more knobs..etc.

iambic9 is him on bass and drums with effects.

I should note, UltraVisitor is not live, the crowd sounds and reverb and such are there to simulate a live album feel, but it is all studio.
