Tool already started on new album O.O

There was too much of nothing really happening on the last record. Jambi had a great rhythm and the guitar had great tone, but could have used more than one chord. There's a huge lull in the middle of the record where the other records are at their strongest.

I enjoy noise/ambience etc but after the huge riffs of the first couple of songs it's hard for a record to keep your attention when they slow it down. It's not that I don't like 10,000 Days but I almost never listen to it all the way through.

To grant you a point though, I think Lateralus was a big turning point in their sound evolution. They kind of went from the angsty post-punk kind of vibe to the more complex and developed epic "art-rock" if you want to call it that. They thought about the songs alot more and it shows, and they wanted to reflect that in the way they sounded.

All IMO, dont hate me please. I love Tool!

i'm with you on this i don't get the hate for the new album it's amazing the production is definatly better than the other albums and theres some great songs on it, your average tool fan seems like a pretensious so and so who feels its his duty to hate anything new past the time when he first listened to them.

and Does anyone remember the Tapeworm Project with maynard and Trent Reznor??

Im pretty sure it's not going to happen. Trent's too caught up in his own works, not to knock him or anything, he's just got his own project going, which is a mammoth one.

Speaking of which Magneezius, did you hear that Justin's getting his hands on a real Brassmaster, or a Malekko Ass:master, a custom built one. You liking yours?

I just want them to work on their live show cause when i saw them it was horrible. maybe i just caught a bad concert and that they ussually are good but man it was the only concert that i wanted end. and the laser show wasnt worth it also they played lots of songs that sound alike right after each other. i would have rather staed home and just listend to their albums and 10000 years is ok but not good or great just ok

However, I love "Intension," the drums and bass are progressing nicely, and...some parts here and there are good. I'm not drooling over a new album, but I will welcome it with kind eyes.

Um... wow. Care to explain?

By the way, I'm a huge fan of King Crimson and Pink Floyd. While I will agree that Tool is a good band, I wouldn't put them anywhere in the same league as KC in terms of pushing envelopes and challenging themselves. KC pretty much re-invents themselves every few years, to the point of sounding like a completely different band (to be fair, they have gone through quite a few band members - but the core group has changed very little since 1981). Tool keeps rehashing the same tricks over and over again, and they seem to have lost much of the guts and forward thinking that they used to display when Paul D'Amour was in the band.

I would love to see Tool actually progress and improve. They've got the talent and the resources to do it. As it stands, I don't think they've done anything interesting since Aenema. I don't believe I need any special insight to realize this; just open ears.

I guess you never saw the Lateralus Tour then...and HOnestly Danny's drum playing only got better in Every album and you can't deny that fact!!

I don't know if you've ever taken the time to listen to some of Ben's various projects, but he has a more open mind about music than most anyone here. He's not much of a fan of their music and doesn't like what they've done in recent years. What's hard to accept about that? You can have a completely open mind and still hate the crap out of their music.
