BTW, tool didn't invent the third eye thing. They picked it up from Bill Hicks.

And the song Aenima has a lot of Bill Hicks quotes in it.

When i first heard 10,000 days i thought it was just ok, but like most good records it got better each time i listened to it. Aenima was my fav though, just sound's really organic and raw. Hopefully we won't have to wait to long for the new album, i'm kind of sick of waiting 5 years between albums

I've loved all of the albums for various reasons and they affect me in many different ways...

But, the live shows always kill me. I saw them a couple times last year while they trekked back and forth the US and the show the day before Mother's Day in Council Bluffs, Iowa was amazing. I was on the floor near the back and was able to take all the visuals in, while the flood of moshing bodies swayed in front.

I never saw Pink Floyd or any of their likes live, but I'm going to go with this being my Pink Floyd.

I wonder If People Said the Same thing about King Crimson and Pink Floyd back in the day.....Because TOOL is the modern day Equivalent!! ....and thats coming from Robert Fripp himself.

God I remember those images. And when the cover over the banner dropped... I about pissed myself. The whole concert / experience was the coolest sh*t I have ever witnessed. It changed my life and put me back with music.

I can't wait to hear it. I've loved every single album of theirs, from Opiate to 10,000 Days. I have to say that Aenima and Lateralus are my favorites, though. What I like most about their songs is the ways all the instruments fit together, and I keep noticing new things each time I listen. So I never get bored of them. In terms of musicianship, Carey and Chancellor are two of the best I've heard on drums and bass. And Maynard is one of my favorite singers/lyricists. But I listened to Undertow recently and was really enjoying Paul D'Amour's bass tone, despite the simpler style.

I can see why some people don't like them, though. Every album sounds different, so if you're mostly into Undertow's heavier, angry style, then you might not like Lateralus. I like the variety, myself.

It's the GK's

Strangely, Justin recorded Lateralus with a Mesa M-2000.

The GK was used on 10,000 Days, and I liked his tone almost as much as Paul D'Amour's, for once. Almost(I'm more into the "grind" a maple Ric produces than the humbucker "crunch" of a Wal). Justin's playing is top-notch, though. Lateralus is one of my favorite songs by them.

Justin wasn't afraid to use a decent amount of dirt in his signal on "10,000", unlike Lateralus, and produced a fabulous tone for that album.

Adam on that album, on the other hand, sounds like he's playing through an 80's Crate amp with a Boss Metal Zone pedal in front of it.

So thanks to this thread necro I check out their website for the first time in ages and find out they are playing here next month. Bizarrely it is not in a major city but way out in the craptastic suburb that grows off it like a tumor. still wondering how I missed the boat on it...

To each his own, I guess. I thought 10,000 Days was brilliant, and I like it better than Lateralus. Aemina remains my personal favorite, but Tool can't make a bad album.
