Rapidly approaching OT, but: do any of those aggregations still have a political impact? I.e., are their governing bodies unified? Or are they all autonymous countries who share some overall collective title as a historical anachronism?
England, Scotland and Wales are all separate countries - never, ever refer to a Scot or Welshman as being "English" if you like the shape of your nose.
And the Ireland/Northern Ireland situation is an ongoing problem that probably won't be sorted out anytime soon. Northern Ireland is part of the UK, and the Republic of Ireland is an independent country, politically separate from the UK. Politically, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland all have their own national parliaments to handle their local affairs that work independently of the British Parliament in London (imagine, in US terms, that the British Parliament in London is like the federal goverment which also acts as the English government, with Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland having their own "state governments" in charge of local policy). Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have their own laws regarding law & order, healthcare, education, etc.
Scotland - part of Great Britain.
Republic of Ireland (home of Philo) - not part of Great Britain.
It gets confusing pretty quickly, so let's break it down...
Great Britain - England, Scotland and Wales (the countries of the British mainland)
United Kingdom - England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland
British Isles - mainland UK, plus Ireland (the island itself), the Channel Islands and the Isle Of Man
No, Republic or Irleand is not part of GB. Lynott was born in England though.
You are correct, it is confusing!
Stuart Zender was raised in the the state, Philadelphia PA. I guess he's still a Brit, but there's a lot of cross-over there.

Found this video of Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick where Norman Watt-Roy appears to be playing a Fender Jazz.

He plays a Jazz about 90% of the time these days, but occasionally pulls out a P-bass. I don't think he's touched the old Alembic in years. He's got his own signature Jazz Bass called the Blockhead Bass that's distributed by the Bass Centre in the UK - it's a copy of an old Shoreline Gold Jazz he played for years beforehand, but that was rapidly wearing out.
