This old snapper was acting as a crossing guard on my lake road this afternoon.
He was about the size of a dinner plate and he didn't like having his picture taken!

Lake Huron off the Bruce Peninsula.
We used to live a few minutes' drive from Lake Ontario...Pulaski, NY...
...a beautiful part of the world...where the load out in August requires dressing in layers...
Just for this thread (and the sheer heck of it) I put my phone up to a couple of kaleidoscopes. One is the plastic-bits-in-a-rotating-tube type:
The other has a clear spherical lens to give you amusing views of whatever's in front of you (in this case, my desk, and VLC player on my monitor):
EDIT: Apparently, the second one is a type of kaleidoscope that has its own term: "Teleidoscope."

I'm glad you did! I gotta try that. I bet you could crop one of those and make an excellent computer desktop or phone lock screen.
Thanks, and I expect you're right. The only variable to contend with is the width of the opening between the reflective surfaces in a given tube. The closer you can get your camera lens, the more of its field of view will be filled up by the reflections. My phone stays in an Otter protective case though, so I didn't get it right up to the aperture of the 'scopes.
