Not a good pic but if you've ever heard of the Santa Ana Winds this is Santa Ana Canyon, the place where those winds emanate. It was named for the Santa Ana River which was named by the Portola Expedition who camped on its banks on St. Anne Day 1769. Seven years before the Declaration of Independence, Europeans were making their first foray into the interior of present day California. 88 years later, German immigrants founded Our Home on the Santa Ana River, better known today as Anaheim, my adopted hometown which I lovingly refer to as Anasleim.
