Totally amateur phone camera pics thread.

Not a good pic but if you've ever heard of the Santa Ana Winds this is Santa Ana Canyon, the place where those winds emanate. It was named for the Santa Ana River which was named by the Portola Expedition who camped on its banks on St. Anne Day 1769. Seven years before the Declaration of Independence, Europeans were making their first foray into the interior of present day California. 88 years later, German immigrants founded Our Home on the Santa Ana River, better known today as Anaheim, my adopted hometown which I lovingly refer to as Anasleim. :woot:

I had to angle the pic to get it all in. Thus cactus blooms once a year, rarely this tall. Thus four foot tall bloom due to drought ending heavy Los Angeles rain last year. Lots of other plants doing better this year including trees.

That is an Aloe Vera plant.
If you give it more dirt space it will make babies and soon you will have a bunch.

My brother has over 30 of them he started from one.

Despite climatic mistreatment, we’ve had the same Aloe Vera plant for around 30 years!
I used to spread it on my students’ cuts and scrapes and bruises and...headaches and tummy aches.
Worked Every Time...
