Here’s a recent one I did. It’s pretty much like the title says, just a pointless story about something that happened years ago. I did this one in less than an hour, played drums, guitar, bass, and the vocals.

Yeah, Pigtronix EP-2 and Paradox Futura envelope chorus (that one gets strange fast).

I can finally kind of hit the target string with my thumb knuckle, but learning proper muting on the strings above the thumb (like open E when playing on the A string) is just driving me batty. Still, lots of flubbing and struggling, but got good clear tone in a few spots.

I've got to say yet again how amazing this turned out. I tightened the truss rods another smidge this morning and lowered the saddles again - lowest action I've played that played cleanly, though more "fret clank" than I like, action was so low and my playing rather ham-fisted... Left it that way for a few hours, but I just went back and brought the middle 4 string saddles back up another half turn. Much more to my tastes. Chording on this thing is already way easier than on any of my other multi-course basses. The Cataldo 12er gets close, but I need to tweak the bridge to get lower on that. No shimming, that one is neck-through

@bholder , I’m not familiar with the FX units you mentioned above, but speaking as a guy who couldn’t slap a bass with both hands and a flashlight...I dig how your tone and note envelopes have traces of berimbau in them. That should be its own technique.

As someone who has had to figure out how to mic an actual berimbau once, I would also really like to hear that tone in a mix. You got a better berimbau sound with your bass than I did with the actual Instrument!

That one looks like if Keurig made a companion berimbau to go along with its coffeemakers.

The one I had to mic up looked more like it had been carved with a dull rock and sealed with crushed insect pulp.

Got any plans to combine your electric slap berimbau sounds with your super deep wind instrument sounds at any point? That could be a hoot.

Hahaha! I've waited this long in life, walking through it aimlessly without an overarching plan or principle. But now, thanks to you, I've got a calling, a mission - "Purveyor of Odd Sounds" hehe hehe hehe

Hahaha! I've waited this long in life, walking through it aimlessly without an overarching plan or principle. But now, thanks to you, I've got a calling, a mission - "Purveyor of Odd Sounds" hehe hehe hehe

Can't sleep again, so this morning I figured out the chords on bass for Neil Young's "Southern Man". Sounds pretty good on the 8er. A little butchery here and there because I just started trying it 15 minutes ago lol
