Trace Elliot at NAMM???

I spoke with Paul quite a bit on amp design.....he's a real gentleman. The amps they had on display were still all pre-production samples so I didn't ask to play them. Kind of a code amongst product managers is that you don't ask to play somebody's pre-production piece.

Based on our discussions though on design, I would expect these to sound like the Trace of days gone by. Even as a competitor, I'm glad to see them back.

I'm sure they will be fantastic. :hyper:

The Trace booth was very close to our booth. Twelve years ago Paul, Clive and I were affiliated with the same company so we spoke quite a bit.

At this time they don't have plans for tube heads. Also, they are planning for very limited distribution in the U.S. Peavey's desire is do only sell these in to select boutique/pro shops.

So I take it you didn't hear anyone else play through them?

I was really hoping someone from this board would have actually been able to play one. It would have been even sweeter if someone who has had experience with prior Trace gear so we could have gotten a comparision.

Oh well. :(

i don't really want to start another thread and seeing as i am soon to be a member of the Trace owners club ( or family :P ), i was wondering if anyone has some clean pure trace sound clips, i mean no effects or other devices, just your bass straight into your amp.

Aside from that has anyone ever owned a 1518T ( the 300watt model with Celestions)?

I am finding it hard to source information on this cab.

Thanks.

Listen to some Iron Maiden.

Edit: Not exactly pure, but thats all Steve Harris uses...and there are some pretty good examples of the Trace sound in those recordings. Keep in mind they are very versatile w/ the EQs and all...so you can get a wide array of tones also.

Cool, that your getting a Trace. Comeback when you get it for your official welcome to the club party. :D

Sorry, I did not get to hear anyone else play them either. I still have some of my old Trace from the mid to late 80's. As soon as I get chance to play the new stuff I will....have to stay up on the competition. ;)

No offense but I hope they actually are competition! :p Atleast then I'll know that Trace is really back! :hyper:

No offense taken. I still have a warm spot in my heart for Trace. The only thing that may inhibit them in the U.S. is the limited distribution they are purposely going for. They only want to put it in "select" dealers.

"Back in the day", people didn't seem to mind driving out of their way to try something special, high-end, boutiquey....etc. These days, many people get frustrated if they can't find it within a ten mile radius or all over the net.
