Tricked Out Squier Club

Going to be getting one of these soon, so excited! First 5 string and second bass. Where do you guys get the parts for these?

Go for the Sunburst! Just sayin' :D I used to own the black model. Excellent bass; I foolishly sold mine. Don't quote me on this, but I imagine most Fender MIM Jazz V parts will fit the Squier Jazz V. Just a thought.

Be sure to post pics!!

Yeah id get the sunburst, the black seems kinda too plain

The TTS is defintely cool. Stingray dude's looks cool with the cream painted pups. The Fender Standard V pickguards fit pretty good with a small gap, so tort is in order the the 'burst.

I got the black and was determined I needed a refin. But after the tort guard, it looks pretty sweet and I'm in no hurry to refinish it.

There's really not much else to change. Bridge is nice and good to go. Maybe shielding and some pups, but not a must. Fully gigable fully stock.

Post pics and let us know. Good time with the sale going on!

Here is my modded VM Jazz. I added a SD Basslines MM pickup in the bridge position. I wired it for series-parallel-single coil. You can see the switch just between the volume and tone knob. I also threw on the Gotoh bridge because the original owner included it with the sale but I want to replace it with a Badass II. It's a great bass for how little I have invested in it.

I've had a tricked out Squier for a long time. Tricked out Squier bass though... that's just beginning to happen.

Currently:
+ J Worrell (one off tall?) single coil
- dead stock pickup
+ Burritos Noches sticker (cause I think it's funny that I'm in bands with guys who worked there years ago and I work there now along with tons of my friends.)

Just finished this bass this past Saturday with a Fender Seafoam Green finish, which Fender originally got from a 1956 Buick. Fender used this color in the 60's. It started out as a 2007 Squier Affinity V in Arctic White. My camera wouldn't reproduce the color correctly, it either looks too blue, or too green, so I included both pics. It's kinda in the middle of the road of both colors shown, looks exactly like the original Fender (Buick) seafoam green in person. Also, the MIM V pickup lined up perfectly with the original screw holes! This bass plays as good as it looks! My 2008 MIA Fender Deluxe V may be taking a break for a while!

Beautiful - and did I EVER have a hard time posting this!

But - take your pick:: (these are supposed to be the same color - obviously not! although one is two-toned)

Both are 1956 Buicks and 'officially' the same color.

haha, you got it! thanks. Not only were there different suppliers and batches of paint back then which caused many inconsistencies..now camera's, the internet, and monitor settings all come into play as well. It's really tough to nail down the correct color unless you see it in person. My bass turned out in between the 2nd and third pick. Not to bright, and not to green! ;-) This was basically my test bass, I plan on buying a new 2010 black Fender MIA Deluxe V with Black block inlays, and having the body painted Seafoam Green.

I've got a winter project coming up - as soon as I get off my retired butt and get to it.

I've got two guitars to paint - one is my old Affinity Precision that's now Fender red, and it's gonna go Corvette Black with tort.

The other will be my 1975 Gibson 6-er that is gonna go Fender red.

I know - RESALE VALUE! Phooey! :spit:

Too bad - although I've had a few offers to buy the Gibson before I commit such a sinful attack on it.

You bass is beautiful, and although I don't particularly care for green/blue (it reminds me of some turquoise dishes we owned in 1958) - it came out exceptionally well I feel.

Do you remember the aqua-green/blue appliances in your 'Modern' kitchens? This was just before the 'Almond' colored stuff. Bleech! :hmm:

Man, we're thinking alike! I was thinking about refinishing my Squier Jazz V Sonic Blue. Also thinking of getting the MIA Deluxe V (Black/BnB) and getting it refinished (someone else) in Sonic Blue. Parallel universe.

You had me laughing over your comment about the dishes..you're absolutely right! Those appliances are brutal! It's amazing how much better a bass can 'wear' some of those vintage colors! ;-)

OK, are we done with the cars, furniture and household appliances? :D

What a great thread! I bought a Squier VM Jazz 4-string last Sunday and I've been scanning TB for mod ideas and parts suppliers. Many interesting ideas here and elsewhere. And so many beautiful basses! My hat is off to you skilled folks! Insert hat-doffing smiley here!

Haven't gigged the new toy yet, so I haven't decided about pups. But one of the reasons I got it was that the Duncan Designed pups got such good reviews. Now I must wait til my next gig, 12/4, Aaaarrgghh! Too long! :p

So far my "to-do" list includes straplocks, black pg screws, black control cavity plate and knobs, maybe a thumbrest, and a set of strings suitable for BEAD tuning. And a bit of filing on the nut, no doubt.

I haven't earned my number, I'll check in when I've done something worth reporting.
