Update.

My new body and pickups have arrived.

Squier VM Jazz Neck
MIJ Jazz Body, Olympic White
Duncan Antiquity II Jazz Pickups
(stock bridge still, kinda like it)

Squier Bronco with a Duncan Designed neck humbucker in series out of a band mate's Schecter. I overdid the pickguard cuts so I made a pretty little mounting ring to keep the pickup from wobbling. I also ended up redrilling and moving the pickguard because it was mounted too far to the treble side for the pickups to be full volume on the E. Oh, and I put on those giant knobs I think I found from some website. It's short and very phat.

Not a super pretty picture, but that's what you get for using an Apple product. ;)

Here are my 2 modified Squiers.

The black Bronco has a Bartolini 8CBP pickup and a custon (by me) black 3 ply pickguard. It also has a Musicmaster bridge.

The vintage white one is an Affinity P-Bass body with a short scale SX neck. I routed out the neck pocet to bring the neck closer to the bridge and moved the Gotoh 201 bridge closer to the neck. I also moved the Bill Lawrence P-46 pickup to where it should be in proportion to the shorter scale. Paint job is mine. Valspar enamel (Sweet Almond or something like that) and the pickguard is my custom job as well.

I really like both of those. I was thinking about doing my vm jag with white appliance spray paint. Thoughts?

The only appliance paint I remember was that nasty epoxy-junk in a spray can that never hardened in the three months I waited for it to.

The re-stripping of it was a lot of work.

I think it was Krylon appliance paint in some sort of avocado green - don't make any rude comments about the color as it wasn't my choice.

Any idea where to get an ash jag body? I hear Warmoth doesn't make them the right shape. The agathis feels very alive but it is a little light and so soft the screws strip.

The appliance paint I was thinking about is Rustoleum. I did my fridge with it and it seemed to come out pretty good. Is there a good cheap quick way to do a refin if you don't care what it looks like down the road? I just want it white and don't want to give up my bass for a month.

With that criteria, you can use whitewash if you like since you don't care what it looks like.

If I were to recommend a quickie - (watch it!) - I'd go for a Krylon appliance white - but I wouldn't do it for myself.

If a customer was slapping me in the face with money - I guess I would do it or someone else down the road would.
