I need some cream pick up covers for my VMJ. I believe someone on here tried some fender covers and the bridge pole pieces didn't line up. Anyone know if theres some that fit?

The VM-Jazz is the one Squier that I know the covers fit from the neck pocket cut out to the pickups perfectly.

The screw holes on the other hand are all over the place.

I put a '62 Jazz tort PG on my VM-Jazz and it fit except for the VEE at the control panel - but that was an easy fix with a Dremel and a sanding drum.

You can see the alignment is perfect here:::

Joe, I was referring to the plastic covers on the pickups...not the pickguard...but you answered one of my next questions about pickguards.:bassist:
I now have two vmj's and one needs to be modded. Just need to figure out which one.

Just got my 04 Squire Affinity P-bass from a local seller. It black with the white guard and had a brand new set of SD Quarter Pounds along with new flatwounds. It also came with 2 25ft monster cables and a Fender HSC. I paid 75.00 for it and I love the way it plays sounds good...but I may go back to round wounds.
So what mods will make it sound better? I know on my guitars I always swap out the nut and get rid of the plastic.
Also who makes a pick-guard for it? I would like a white pearl one. Will one made for a regular Fender P work? They both have the same amount of screw holes and they look to be in about the same place.
Thanks Pics coming in a bit

I used to hang around here, but I haven't played bass in a few years due to Carpal Tunnel. I wound up selling my gear and now I'm getting back into it for fun. I just bought this off of kharmakazee1. Should have it next week sometime.

Classic Vibe 50's Precision
Seymour Duncan Basslines Quarter Pounder
B/W/B Custom Pickguard
Q-Parts Blue Stone Knobs
Chrome Bridge Pickup

Mine! Very strongly inspired by marklforest's; the second I saw his I knew I had to do something similar with my red Squier. I got a great deal on the Geddy Lee neck on the local CL and sent my old pickguard to the folks Pickguardian (who are great to work with, although it got stuck at customs for a while though :( ). I took it all over to Stephane at Montreal Custom Guitar and voila!

The only thing missing now is an SPB-1 to replace the stock pup (I bought it last week but one of two coils was dead out of the box :crying:. Oh well, returning it tomorrow so it won't be long) I also put on some TI Jazz flats which I am digging, although I was expecting a bit more of a woody sound. Guess I'll just have to let 'em set in a bit first.

Black Bronco bass,

Musicmaster Aero Pickup
Musicmaster replacement pickguard
Strat control knobs
white thumb rest
I tinted the neck myself with amber nitro
Elephant ear turners
white electrical tape for the racing stripes

I have a couple of musicmaster bridges that im waiting to drill for top-loading purposes.

Also, dont know if this counts, but if anyone lives in london - check out the shop window to Wunjo Guitars, Denmark Street. Someone has stuck a Fender Musicmaster Bass neck on a stock red bronco bass and replaced the control knobs - they're now trying to sell it for more than anyone would pay for a real Musicmaster. I dont think they know that someone screwed them over and I dont have the heart to tell them (and anyone wanting to drop £800 on a Musicmaster would know that what they're looking at is not legit - I knew from my first glance, and i've not spent £800 on one single bit of kit. Hell, my rig only cost me £350)

These new Vintage Modified Squiers are unbelievable for only $300. This is the first time in years I've even reconsidered buying one.
I need a maple board jazz for the studio. I was originally thinking of finding a used Geddy model for around $600 and putting in some Sey Dun Antiquitty II pups for a round rock/pop tone.
After playing a new Squier at GC, I'm thinking I could get one of these instead.
Any opinion on whether the new Squier Vintage Modified with the SD Antiquity II pups will sound as clear as a Geddy Lee model?
