Turbosound IP2000 Review

ribbon cables and crossover issues...I have two v1's and so does the singer in my band (two v1's as well). We have both had both modules and complete subs sent to Las Vegas. They all seem to work currently, but I'll always remain skeptical. I'll give them credit for having a ten year warranty.

We run 3 pc. acoustic trio up to 6 pc. electric band with 2 ip2000s behind us, usually flanking the drum set when he's w/ us. Most gigs this year will be trio (acoustic guitar, mandolin, URB), outdoors or high ceiling venues. We've had the ip2000 spkrs. behind us for 300+ gigs without any major feedback issues. I guess we play loud, but not that LOUD. Indoor/outdoor makes no difference. A&H Qu-SB or Qu-16 into ip2000s; LR Baggs Para DIs on these 3 instruments, Heil mics &/or Shures for vox. No monitors in front...it's fine.

I usually run them in stereo from the board. I tend to use a front stage snake so I will use two return lines on the snake to get to the speakers. If I am running two speakers per side then I daisy chan the pairs. Also as I have two version 1s and two version 2's I put one of each pair on a side. I have been lucky. The version 1's I have have not suffered from the early day crckling sounds. My first pair did but I sent those back.

Yes still using the DL32r. It is like another arm to me know I know it so well.

Cheers

So with Covid and a lack of music plus a move up into Maine I decided to sell off a pair of my Turbosounds. I reached out to a friend of mine who does both sol and a 4 piece Sinatra type gig. He sings, has a guitar who goes direct. I drummer who uses a drum pad and kick. the pads he actually triggers with his hands. That went direct. he also had a bass player who had an amp. We set up one behind them in this smallish rest, bar. maybe 40 peeps. Boy it sounded great. the drum pads were amazing. guitar awesome. He was floored. They only had one vocal mike but there was never any feedback.

Hello everyone. I joined just to jump in on this thread. I was actually the direct to desk guitar player that @musicman7722 mentioned about the 5 piece rock band he mixed back in 18. That gig was what inspired (see what I did there?) me to buy a set of the IP2000's. I have done a ton of gigs with them since 2019, I use them on stage with us.

One of my units is doing the crackling thing with certain vocal mics. Seems to get less frequent turning down all 3 eq settings about 3 notches in each tower. I contacted turbosound and the person that got back to me acted like he'd never heard of this issue. Anywho he wanted me to send him a video of the issue but I dont really have the means to do that. Did anyone else have turbosound ask them to do this? I find it a bit extreme when it's a known issue.

Anyone still using these? I have a chance to pick up a pair of ip2000 V2. These would be to play at the house (acoustic, keys, bass, etc) and doubtful I will ever play out again. Definitely an overkill, but these would take up less footprint and be more versatile than a guitar amp, bass rig, etc etc.

Wanted to pop back in and say I have tried all the suggestions and settings but both my towers are crackling now, so what I did was decided to use just the subs with my EV ELX112p's and it's working out great. I got about 6 years out of the satellite towers so I'm not upset. I may some day open up the sub enclosure and clean everything (including the Molex connectors) out real good. Saw a video where someone did this and it resolved their crackling.

I did try contacting Music Tribe again and got no response.

Not the cheapest out there but I'm over the moon with db technology IG3T's. Loud and clear. Need a little EQ cut in the 4-5 k range. They are great as individual tops. 1 over a pair of KW-181's ... I have 4. They link and digitally combine in a column array. 4 IG3T's just walk away from 4 KW-181... which is fine for now. Next season subs won't be a limiting factor if my winter plans hold.

Driveway testing...
