Tuxedo Bass #3 Coming Up

I got a little time to work on the finish a bit today. I decided that I don't want to work for a buddy - for free, I might add.
So I just cruised a little today and did some paint and hardware fitting.
Here's after 25 coats of clear and sanding up to now:::
I'm not sure I like the placement of this logo and name, but I'll leave it for now and see if it grows on me --- or not.
A little placement testing here. The lower p'ups are some old dead ones they won't stay here but just for fitting and adjustments.
There's still some hardware missing - like the black/white/black material for the back door and --- I'm lookin' here and thinkin' that I need 'something else' on the front of this bass
I think that I'll put a black inlay in that echelon area for the control panel. That wasn't my original idea, and I didn't want to use this style of knobs either - it just happened this way.
I'll be gone all day tomorrow and this will get to off-gas some more and maybe I'll start the multi-coats of carnauba paste wax.

Awesome idea for the control "cavity!" And since it resembles a NACA duct, how appropriate to be in Lamborghini yellow.

Hmmm. I think that yellow is pretty international in application. In some circles, it might be 'Cub Yellow' - others might say 'Insignia Yellow' or 'M&M Yellow' (the aphrodisiac ones, my choice here).
Perhaps a 'Good Year LTA-Airship Yellow' since the body weighs 3lbs/14ozs right now without hardware.
I don't know where the extra weight went - but I'll be happy with it like it is.

Saturday July 23rd Update
We are under a fire serious watch here - you'll see some garden hoses and my emergency gas-powered water pump at the ready with a pair of 1 1/2ers from a 250,000 gallon emergency water tank.
We're on a well and I have always had a 1/4 million gallon reserve that the fire department can have when they hit a local fire in the neighborhood - since the tankers don't carry that much water.
There's a fire right over the hill from us, burned about 4,000 acres so far and it's smoking me out. That's bad with my COPD.
But I got some more parts in the mail today (the mail made it through!) and had to install them because - they were, uh, HERE!
Here's the latest shots - sorry since the skies are smoked-out and hazy and the color is a little muted here (lol):::
Like I said - the colors are kinda odd in the red and purple sky, so I'll get better pixs when the air clears up. I'm still waiting for some black/white/black PG material for a few small areas I want to cover yet.
Tonight I'll wire the pots, p'ups and switch and shield the pockets, and I slant drilled the bridge wire already - so that's done.
At the mo' I'm still not satisfied with the way the headstock came out and I think I'll strip it again and redo it more to my liking.
Seriously thinking about recessing the neck plate too - to make it flush with the back of the body. Maybe.

This really looks great , i love seeing my parts morph into awesomeness. If you ever need anything else you know how to find me , i am going to have to start giving you better deals with all our business we do.

July 30th Update:::
Awaiting parts yet - I got the output jack all fitted in today - Phew! That was touch-n-go for a while. I though I had mis-figured on the thickness of the body at that point and I was gonna 'sky-out' the electrical connections!
It worked out good though. Pixs later tomorrow.
Anyway - I did some of the wiring and got the S/P switch all wired up too.
I put a set of MII 7250 black-silks from Squier on it last night to check all the dimensions and I'm not happy with the placement of a couple of the pickups.
Not that I want to fire it up yet - (I do!) - but that I do need to make a small shift for the alignment of the two lower pickups. Oh well.
I've ordered some Black/Yellow/Black PG bulk material and that's the next hang-up - waiting!
Since I'm under the weather again and will spend most of the next day or so very close to my bed - I may not make much progress for a few days. I'll try though.
Aaand you lost me. The Strat jack looks really out of place, but it's not my bass. Great paint job either way.
Be patient - it's not done yet and that [DEL]football[/DEL] Strat jack plate will look better to you later on I bet. Maybe.
Options are still open for the jack if I decide like you - after all, there's still the inlay that could cover it up.

Just take a slab of wood and remove everything that doesn't look like a Jaguar that mated with an Ibanez.
I have it hanging on a wall hook waiting for my PG material then I can finish the rest of the installation. The plans are still kinda fluid and I could go either way of two jacks - the way I am going to put the PG on is going to allow me a lot of leeway.
Ya know - dreaming here again --- can you imagine the 1958 Corvette side panel incorporated into a bass guitar design?
