How does it sound?

I'm a pretty basic setup kind of guy, but I'd like to have the SA Atlas in front of my Opus with an SA Soleman (or similar) for switching Presets.

I started with the DRY signal first as it has the least amount going on. I did decide that having the Artifakt with that signal would be a nice thing to play with.

I also have some USB adapters OTW for access...

There are a lot of possibilities with this arrangement.

Question about Opus "dual mono" configuration & signal routing, is it possible to place Opus in effects loop to pass dry/unprocessed signal on 1/4 out to amp return, and processed cabsim via XLR DI only?
Configuring OPUS to Send 2 Different Signals From The LINE & DI Outputs
Prepare for various performance and recording situations with OPUS' Dual Mono / LINE OUT ROUTING capabilities!

Simply define a terminus in OPUS’ DSP signal chain and you’re set to send two distinct signals from the DI (XLR) and LINE (1/4-inch TRS) outputs. So, whether it’s piping a fully-processed DI signal to FOH and a TSM™ amplifier emulation to your amp's FX return, or simply tracking a dry DI and DSP-processed signal simultaneously in a recording session, OPUS delivers all the flexibility your performance demands.

The LINE OUT ROUTING is accessible through OPUS's MENU directly via the pedal's screen:

  • First, from the Preset Window on OPUS’ OLED display, push the right encoder to enter the Main Menu
  • Then, navigate to the “Global” Menu (indicated by a cog icon) using the right encoder to scroll through the sections and push the right encoder to enter this menu.
  • Once inside the Global Menu, scroll to “Line Out Routing” using the right encoder
  • You can then use the right encoder to select where in OPUS’ DSP architecture the signal for the ¼-inch Line output is fed:
    • NO PROCESSING: The LINE output sends the dry input signal from OPUS without any processing. Please note, this non-processed signal still passes through OPUS' DSP and therefore features the same latency as the signal feeding the XLR DI output. The latency can be configured in the AUDIO PERFORMANCE menu.
    • AFTER TSM AMPLIFIER: The LINE output sends the signal after the PREAMP, POWER AMP and NOISE GATE within OPUS.
    • AFTER CAB SIM: The LINE output sends the signal post the volume levels of the DynIR cabinet emulation microphone channels within OPUS.
    • AFTER POST FX: The LINE output sends the signal featuring all DSP processing within OPUS. With this setting, the LINE and DI outputs send the same processed signal.
You can also set the LINE OUTPUT ROUTING via the SETUP menu in Torpedo Remote, accessible from the main window via the EDIT menu. The different options are listed in the drop down menu next to LINE OUT ROUTING.

I believe that the answer is yes you can...

@9985 Yes indeed, this usage scenario was one of the key considerations for implementing the Line Out Routing mode! Let me know if you have any other questions!

Opus would be dead last in effects loop, with bone dry/unprocessed on 1/4 Line Out to TS return, and everything (preamp, reverb, enhancer, EQ) except cab sim bypassed on XLR to FOH mixer.

Can I disable the TSM preamp & still use a TSM poweramp? I can live with just cab sim if not.

I can't route from amp's speaker output to Opus to my stage cab because I'm using using a GK 700RB-II with 4 pole/biamp Speakon connectors. Entire reason I'm doing this is to get cabsim to FOH via XLR. Cabzeus Mono is alternative, but Opus has a ton more features & options.

I'm not @Ross Davies and I'm sure he will chime in soon, but "yes", you can use any combination of sections within the Opus, simply by turning on or off whichever section you desire.

Something that I've found true for me, whichever section I want to include in the signal path, I turn every other section off and tweak that section until it sounds the best to me, then do the same for any additional sections (turning off the one I just tweaked).
After you've individually tweaked each section, then start adding them together, adjusting the gain and other settings as you go.
This way you will not be struggling as much to work against any one section, but rather allow them to complement one another with the least amount of signal processing.
I do not know if it matters the order in which you work through them.
I've found that I'm using the cab sims less and less unless I'm after a certain type of overdriven tone, but that may be because I like the sound that my bass guitar makes without a lot else going on.

Just got my Opus set up on my pedal board, working like a champ in FX loop of my GK 700RB-II. Got MIDI configured to be able to select presets from my HX Effects, not sure if I'm going to mess with changing that live, we'll see.

Spent the evening recording/comparing different sample clips, dialed it a couple that sound great to me, need to experiment more with microphones and settings on the power amp sims. Is there a master list somewhere of what all the microphones are? Wasn't in the manual, I struck out on Google.

The output preset level/volume control in the app adjusts both the 1/4 Line out and XLR out - if there is any way to split those as separate controls in the future, would be really useful for anyone using the Line Out as dry feed to amp/cab on stage & XLR to FOH.

The Angle and distance settings for mic placement are a little limited compared to, for example, Helix Native cab sims with more granular control relative to position from the center/edge of the speaker cone in addition to distance and angle (and a better visual reference - images of cabs with grill cloth covering the speaker(s) make it tough to position the mic). Don't know if that's an inherent limitation to DynIR.

Last- out of the box, respectfully, only 6 bass cabinet choices is stingy, compared to 7-8x as many guitar cabs. I'll probably buy a few DynIRs, but frankly at least a 1x18 and a 2x12 should have been included with the standard choices. Perhaps in the future you could offer different initial firmware packages for bass/electric guitar/acoustic with different cabs. Alternately maybe cut back on the included guitar cabs by a few & provide choice of downloads as either bass or guitar - sort of like Eventide used to do with H9 algorithims.

great product overall, I'm just figuring it out!

There might be a better way to map the mic types, BUT you can go to the products page for the bass cab sims and click on the cab you're trying to set up and the available mics will be shown on that page describing the cab.
Different cabs sometimes have different mics available.
The Contour and Depth controls have a huge impact on the Power Amp tone, it just takes a bit of messing around with to find what sounds good to you.
I seem to prefer the 6L6 with Gain around 40%, the Contour below 50%, and the Depth above 50%, but everyone has different tastes.
Yes the supplied bass speaker cab selection is REALLY weak.
I actually prefer not using the cabs sims, but I did purchase 4 bass cab sims: I recommend the Standard Powerhouse 1000 (or PH212) and the Don Bronco Evo 115 Neo.
As I recommended previously, tweak while isolating one section at a time for optimal sound, then add together gradually, tweaking as you go.
