Two Notes Le Bass Players Club

Errrr, old guy dose it again!!
I "thought" I had ordered a Revolt but I hadn't (MY own fault, can't blame anyone) . Just after I "thought" I ordered it , I had a "amp emergency" , which ended up being MY fault too!
With the Amp sorted, I realised that the Revolt is late arriving. Errrr, no, it's not coming at all ! Anyway, I have definitely ordered AND paid for 1 , and it should arrive by 25th September, at the latest. Better late, than never!!
Now I'm really, really anticipating getting my hands on it ! My little trio has a 40 min spot on the 27th , so I should have at least 2 days to dial it in !! I'm a big believer in "don't really know how it sounds, till U play at volume, at a show, with whole rig"
Will post how it all goes.

Hi @Old Ozzie Guy, thanks for getting in touch! Ross from Two notes here! The preamp models on the Le Bass have not been specifically based on anything, rather they are our own propriatry designs. Let us know if there is anything else we can help you with.
Hi Ross, I'm (belated) going to receive my Revolt in next couple of days. Long story why it's taken so long (& it was my own fault), but IV been trying to download manual for it, I went onto two notes site, registered my email & password, as requested. I should mention I'm hopeless navigating any computer, online whatever.. I thought that having entered my email/password, , received verification email, pushed verification "link", that I would b good to access manual. I did bring manual up , was scrolling through and tried to push link and it wanted my username and password, so I entered my email & password, but it rejected it..
I will just wait for it to arrive and see if it has more details regarding accessing manual.
I'm NOT directing any criticism of your company, Lots of companies don't have any written material regarding function/use, they just direct U online..ALL companies nowadays just "expect" that purchaser has a certain level of computer skills. It's really, really, really frustrating for those few on planet that are NOT online 24/7, computer savvy, ECT.. I use my phone, as a phone, to tx, the odd purchase online, and to access Talkbass. No Facebook , tic-tac ,ect. My own fault, as my grandson continual tells me.
Anyway, any hints how to get a "user name/password?

Hi @Old Ozzie Guy

No worries at all and I am so sorry to hear you are having issues accessing our manual. We actually have them all online as Wiki articles - please see the link below and let me know if there is anything else you need.

Kind regards,

Ross
Thanks, I can get the manual up, I can't get it to download on my fone, and if I click on any links, it asks for "user name". I will wait till grandson around and he will sort it, like I mentioned before "life in '23 is dependant on computer literacy", it's just taken for granted, I WON'T purchase any TC electronic gear because 0 written info. Every thing online, have to download latest software just to get going.. sorry, I'm ranting. I looking forward to receiving Revolt, will work all out in"real time"
Big , Big plus of Revolt is knobs ! Yay! Not parameters!! + it sounds brilliant!!

Received the Revolt this arvo(that's afternoon for US folk). I couldn't have be more excited , eagerly awaiting for it to arrive! I was not let down! It's impressivly boxed, comes with info printed on dead trees, which may be bad for the trees, but Brilliant for us relics not conversant with downloading , or initiating latest software. I will also add, all parameters are adjusted in realtime, with nobs !! Yay!, no "menue" , or programming. It's extremely intuitive, 3 differing channels, took all of 2 minutes to tailor all 3 to my taste. Overall it reeks of quality , pots smooth, the unit runs quiet as a mouse, even at extreme settings. The build looks (weighs) solid. First impressions were limited to H'phones + cab Sim , but so far, I'm knocked out just how good the 3 channels sound.
I'v set up the 4 cable method, with my rig (AG700 driving 2 X svt210av's and a Hartke HiDrive 112), all ready to "shake walls + windows", tomorrow. I will post more, when I hear whole rig running at volume, but for now, I'm truly impressed. Brilliant!!

How good is the Two Notes Revolt Bass valve pre amp ? To this old muso, it's truly amazing ! It has exceeded my, usually high, expectations!!
Firstly, I will give a quick rundown of my muso credentials. I'v only been playing bass this year, other than a 3 yr "dabble", mid 80s.I have played 6 str electric & accoustic, since early 70s , still have a Gib LP cust, 335 dot , Epi Zenith archtop , & late model Epi12str
I played guitar in bands, ran a PA , done a bit of recording. Bottom line, even though I'm a "newbie" to current bass playing/gear, , IV got years on 6str "little brother ". Sorry about all that, just trying to put some credibility to my opinion on the Revolt.
As , first mentioned, it has exceeded my expectations. The biggest surprise was how a single valve (12ax7?) pre amp can "respond" so well to playing dynamics , easily as well as a full valve (higher end)heads IV owned /played. Me. ..Shocked !
IV allways had valve amps, Marshall, Boogie, Orange, Fender. Ok, this is a Bass pre amp, but, the dynamic response, natural compression, even harmonic saturation ECT , IV only found in full valve amps.
Channel 1...wow, it's classic "Peg", IV been chasing the "that sound" , with non valve alternatives, respected brands . Channel 1 of the Revolt, into AG700 power stage(via FX return), into 2x Ampeg SVT 210av's..
and there it is , "that sound", at a fraction of the weight (& expense)
Channel 2, "hello old friend" definitely Marsh !! Again, ok ,it's bass, but certain amp manufacturers have a "sound" that they emulate through all they produce. I love Channel 2s saturated growl , it's so "Marsh"
Channel 3, again I was surprised, mainly because of vids online have been critical if it, saying it's not a "Nordic" OD (bk), I REALLY don't think its trying to. It's NOT a "hi fi drive" , maybe modern drive is misleading? To me, it IS a very usable (live) heavy drive. Reminds me of a split, parallel Clean/Rat pedal (old school) into 2 amps .
How often , if U can isolate a track, dose it not sound "the ultimate tone", this is where I believe Channel 3 sits. BUT in the mix it WORKS, PUMPS, SHINEs.
I'm yet to use Revolt Bass live, but, to my ear, having heard it at home, at volume, I will b extremely surprised if all 3 channels don't "kill it".
I originally set the Volt up with the 4 cable method, but, before I started playing, I thought "I really just want to check the Volt by itself, I know what my amp sounds like", so I re hooked up, Volt in FX of amp .
I couldn't stop playing it all day, went over my bands current song list, its still set up without 4 cable, 3 X great , independent "tones" , is enough to cover every song we play.
Im enamoured with the Revolt Bass, 3 great sounds (to me), and the unexpected "feel" , "dynamic touch sensitivity" , of playing a expensive behemoth!!

I probably should have posted the above on a different thread..NPAD (new pre amp day?). I'm really new to all this, still learning...

Normally, I'm reticent to give too much credence, till I use gear at a show, but I'm pretty sure that on stage, " d Volt will rock!! "
To be cont...

My Le Bass crunch channel in conjunction with my Source Audio filter is astounding.

Also, this preamp may have saved a bass today.
Kicked in the clean channel with my fairly recent (passive) fretless P5 and it gave new life to the instrument. Many of my basses are too hot for the clean channel, this bass was an exception. I'm gonna keep the bass.

Normally I get to play at a pub most Wednesday nights. Not tonight, and not next week either. I received my Revolt, last Thursday, and are looking forward to hearing it 'at work ', so to speak. I have rehearsed in a studio at volume, and was stoked with my sounds. I don't bother with 4 cable method anymore, I haven't used my amp sound, the 'Volts 3 channels are all I need for all the songs we play.
I basically use ch1 for all my clean tones, with either a octaver , or a BK1 for solos/boost. CH2 is my Grinder, with ch3 for solos/boost.
As mentioned ch1 is all 'Peg, 80%svt 20%b15..(to my ear , and memory) & CH2 classic Marsh Major on '11'.
I Love both these tones ,so usable.
Both bandmates are amazed how good ( and different) the sounds are.
To me ch3 works beautifully as a boost/solo for CH2. Shared eq is a boon used this way. (Which I believe was designed for).
The Revolt is the first pre-amp (amp) that really is BETTER than I expected.
I can't get over how different the first 2 channels sound to each other..its really is like having 2 valve Behemoths !! It definitely helps that my whole 'rig' is aimed at classic 60s/70s rock.. Gibson LPj bass, AG700 pushing 2xAmpeg svt210av's, with Hartke HiDrive 1x12, all 3 in Vertical array.
When I eventually get to give it a go live, I will post how it performs. But , I would bet $s, that it will "shine"...
