For some it is the addition of the bridge cover that is a turn off. I'm confident that the bass is worth the asking price if the neck is good. I prefer instruments that are all original.

SERIAL NUMBERS - Creative Solutions?

Has anyone come up with a creative way to add a permanent serial number to one of the stickered models (GV etc)

I had put a set of DR Sunbeams on the SF Foundation. They sounded good but I decided to try a set of D'Adarrio Chromes on the bass and just WOW!

The electronics in this bass are amazing.....different in the way the controls work, especially the tone control, but the variety of tones available is remarkable. I can get a snarly Jazz bass tone and then it is no problem to get a warm and fat sounding tone similar to a Precision and all of it sounds very musical.

The engineering on these basses was so very good. The only niggle I have is that they should never have used the micro tilt which is responsible for a lot of ski jump necks. This neck is not bad by any means but there is a very small amount of ski jump that prevents it from being set up as low as I usually like.

If the feds send us another check I will likely send the neck off to the folks at warpedneck.com and have them do their magic. This bass is too good as it is and will be even better with the neck issue resolved.

I love mine. The only “Jazz” bass I own.

Finally got the strings i ordered in for that mahogany foundation, and I'm just beside myself how killer this thing is. The set that it came to me with was a 95-40 set which was just too loose for my playing. I put on a Rotosound SS 105-45 set and after a good setup its just everything I need from a foundation. Growly as all get out.

I think i might swap out the tone cap for one like the one in my patriot/fury, which was a small packet compared to the ceramic disc in the foundation. I don't pretend to know the physics behind it, but I really like how those small packet caps sound, like they let a lot of treble bleed through and color the tone in a very usable way.

The shape changed.
90's look taller and more narrow, 80's more wide and meaty.
The red SF Foundation has the next/later generation body, the Foundation S has the earlier perfect wider body and smooth contours.
The waist is also higher on the generation 3 basses.
Gen 1 Ash Slant Fury, wide meaty, beautiful shape
Gen 2 Blue Fury, wide meaty, beautiful shape
Gen 3 Cream Fury, taller more narrow looking from Gen 1&2, edges are more squared off
Later Gen 3 White Fury, softer more rounded horns but still slim overall

They are great instruments (even in FP red ) and the sole reason, I won't buy a Jazz bass by any brand as the Foundation does it all .
