Did a level crown and polish on my ash fury i got a few months back, and im so glad i finally got off my butt and did it. The neck was just the slightest bit humpy going up to the 5th fret or so, so the amount of relief i needed to get any clarity on the 1st fret was just too much for me. Now it plays as good as i could ask with next to no relief, which is how i prefer my basses.
I knew it was Mahogany. I have been a carpenter for 25 years! Lol!
To be clear though, did Peavey ever make instruments of Walnut?
Peavey used Walnut on many Cirrus basses. The Walnut 6 has a Claro Walnut top, the Wenge top has the same woods in it as the Claro Walnut top bass. The photo of the back of my Bubinga top 5 shows the Walnut body and neck.
I've a vague memory that Ken Achard's rear toured T-40 was walnut.
Love my ash Fury, I got it from our friend Mech.
The original neck was twisted, so he put a five string neck and bridge on and played it that way for some time. Before he sold it to me, he put a 1987 Fury neck on it and put the original bridge back on. The 1987 necks are my favorite, my Patriot is also an '87. He also had an EMG two band pre in it. I took that out, not really enough room for the pre and battery under the pickguard. The beat up original black pickguard had a few curled up spots so I bought a fancy tort-ish pickguard and nice light weight tigerwood knobs for it.
Peavey ash bodies are great, ...when the body is smaller than a T40/T45..!!

Also, here’s my ~10 year old stew Mac wrench that I believe they’ve discontinued compared to the standard Gibson wrench. I’ve yet to meet a peavey mine is no good for.
I have one of the Gibson ones for my 86 Foundation. Mine fits fine but I know there is variance in those truss nut slots from back then and it isn't always the case.
I have a couple USA Peaveys listed in the classifieds if anyone is interested.

I have an ongoing wrist issue that is making it a lot harder to play. I find it a lot easier to play short scales, so that's where most of my playing time goes these days. I'm not getting rid of my entire Peavey collection, but I can't justify having so many that don't get played. I'd rather see them go to a good home. My mahogany Foundation went to wild4oldcars, and now its time for these two to go.

I've had several Peavey's where you could tell that someone carefully chiseled away some wood around the truss rod area. Just enough to get the wrench in, but not to show when the cover in on.

It needed a BIG ol shim, so i put three pieces of veneer in the pocket, one about 2/3 the way down, one a little less than half way, and one a little more than 1/4 the way. I know its all guessing and id have been better to make a real wedge, but its gotta be more stable than three thin chunks of veneer at the end right?
