AAAH! Too many great options, just after I pulled the trigger on a couple other basses! Where was that one a month ago? It's perfect for what I need. lol
My modded Squier 70s J V is killer. I have an 84 Foundy showing up tomorrow and my Dyna 5 neck is coming back from warped neck next week.

I think you have the same sickness we all do... Already looking at basses while another one is on a truck on the way to us already.

Indeed. I have rewired a couple with a master coil split and both myself and the owner of the T40 preferred the tones that way. Out of phase is kinda 1970s cool, IMO. Granted, you can adjust the phase with the volume knobs.

So, the 84 Foundation arrived Friday. Packed well below average, but the chainsaw case did it's job protecting it. The case exterior was super clean and all the latches intact and rust free. Good sign. Opened up the case and there was sticky, disintegrated foam everywhere. AHHH!!!! Spent an hour getting it off the bass and scraped up the mess and old glue from the bottom tray. Reattached the foam strip to the lid and will refoam the bottom this week.
The bass was super clean, too. No pick scratches, the pickup tops are clean. It came from Tucson, so it had no rust and was pre-acclimated to my dry climate! Pretty sure this spent most of it's days in the case- the neck doesn't show a hint of UV aging/yellowing. The only 'flaw' is that the finish on the back reacted with the foam and has a lot of imprinting. Whatever, it's the back, it's gonna get scratched up anyway. It's about 9 pounds, quite a bit lighter than my other 84. Balances nicely on a strap.
Pretty severe bow to the neck, but it straightened up nicely. The pots needed a little cleaning and I like to lightly sand the gloss off the neck. Noticed that this is an overspray to an original 62 Blue finish!

I restrung it with stainless steel 40-100 (lighter than usual for me) and barely had to touch up the intonation and string height, so the previous setup was right up my alley. Installed strap locks, too.

Took it to my gig yesterday and it performed and sounded flawless. It was accompanied by my other new bass, the Squier CV 70s Jazz V with the EMGs and BTS and black control plate. Had to get those noobs out and playing!
(Note the vintage Peavey 3.5" green strap).

The fact that it had all the original parts and case was the nail in the coffin. There was a little gain gap from the EMG J5 set and the SFs. I had the SFs up real close to the strings (and used stainless steel strings) and backed the EMGs off a touch to keep them close enough for rock n roll (or 80s pop covers, for that matter).
My SF Dynas have nickel rounds and my other 84 Foundy has flats, so this one with stainless rounds was all growl. The soloed neck PU was extremely Precision sounding, too, a bonus for the cover band.

Also, I got my Dyna 5 neck back from warped neck.com. He did a killer job. It looks new!

Looks nice and I'm glad you're gigging too! Its interesting it was played very little but had a repaint. Black and Maple club...I like that shade of blue though.
