I guess sometimes dual mono outs make things more simple, rather than more complicated. Some stereo bass enthusiasts use two channel amps only (rather than two whole bass rigs.) I'm a glutton for punishment, and lug around two rigs.

Well, if you are regularily bringing two cabs to gigs, I think you should at least try out a stereo setup. It's particularly great with basses that have magnetic and piezo pups, as they each have different optimum cabs and amps. Not to mention different responses to any effects one might use.

I dont gig, so it's not too much of a concern. I wanted to get a new amp anyway for something different. So I'm blaming you :smug:

I compared my Foundation 5 to the video and found that my bass sounds very much like the one they are calling VFL equipped. The PU's are actually single coils in VFL size cases.

While I was playing the bass the other day I noticed that when the bridge PU was soloed the 1st string was down in volume compared to the other strings. I tried raising the treble side of the bridge pickup and that helped but the G string was still down in volume. This

morning I noticed that the bridge saddles were positioned toward the treble side of the bridge base. I loosened the strings and positioned them more centered and now the G string volume is where it should be. I guess there is something good to be said about those grooves in bridge basses that the height screws ride in that keeps the bridge saddles centered.

You can clearly see in the photos that the bridge saddles were positioned toward the treble side before I corrected that today. Something new to watch for in the future.

So, I got my GC Used Dyna Bass yesterday and of course it doesn't work. The action and neck is PERFECT and it has (my favorite) preamp in it, the same one that the RJIV has with the dip switches.

Yes, I checked the battery and it's good.

When I play it, there's no signal unless I dig in really hard, then it squeaks through. I figure I'll change the caps today (wish me luck, my first attempt !!) so I think it was AudioTaper who had a similar experience and the cap change fixed it, so let's hope that's it. I'm open to advice !!

EDIT : I went to play my other bass and it too didn't work, so I traced it to my noise gate knob had been turned and closed the signal. Now, the Dyna works just fine !!! Dead silent and couldn't be happier !!! I'm posting as a reminder to slow down and check the signal chain instead of right away tearing the bass apart. It's weird because when I touched the cord it would buzz, so I thought I had signal.
