$50 for a used set in very good condition is not bad. They are Grover Titan tuners. NOS sets do occasionally come up for sale on eBay and usually go for $75 or better.

I promised that I wouldn't bore you all with another refinish (and I hope not to,) but thought you might be interested in what I found under the red paint. The '89 was solid ash, the '95 not so much.

This wood is nice. I am surprised they gave it a non-translucid finish.
The result should be nice.
Someone PMd me asking what a "contour" (egg, bullet, rotomold etc) case was... and if other things would fit in one.
I've logged well over a million miles with a single case.. purposely beaten the snot out of it... never prepped when mailing etc.. zero failures.
There are differences in the headstock area and the horn cut outs... I know of at least 6 different interiors.
If anyone has the naked foam type. PM me.. it's super easy to clean off your bass... no solvents needed.

They are the single best design Peavey put out.. I've thrown them out of 3rd floor windows.. shipped via all methods.. fallen out of moving trucks.. driven over with pickups.. never an issue.

Didn't realize it fit other basses in them that well, thought they only worked with those they were specifically molded for. If they perform well with other basses maybe I'll snag one of them...
So I gigged the RJ-IV tonight for the first time and I don't know what happened, it disappeared after the 3rd song.

I also brought the Fury but I was not too happy with the action on that one, still have to work on it.
Got one of the cases. I don't buy cases usually (the ones I have came with instruments I bought used) so I have no idea if it was a good price or not, but I felt around $50 including shipping was nice for a good tough case.
We'll see if it stands up to mil-spec, I might have to bring it into work and test it
