SAWEEET :D That's a hot color and the black hardware offsets it nicely. Also, I really think nickel rounds work well with Peavey electronics.
Have you tried it in a band setting yet?

Smogg, it just arrived, today, and is my first active. The bypass switch for selecting active/passive is such a bonus on this model! :D

Cool,
I'll lay odds that in passive mode you can get it to sound like a Foundation. In active, all I can say is have fun. Lots and lots of tonal possibilities at your disposal.

P.S. don't use cheap batteries & remember to leave it unplugged (disconnect cord from bass) when not playing it to maximize battery life.

Just spent an hour playing my Fury.

Nothing big to report, just a short note to say, "This is a great sounding, great playing P-bass!"

So easy to play, just a great feel to the neck.

Appreciate this thread for turning me on to the secret that is the Peavey Fury.

Theres a black Axecellerator at the local shop but they want way more than its worth. Decent bass but not one of the best peaveys ive played. If i could get a 5er in purple/plum for a decent price id snag one. Sadly buying another bass right now is out of the question since ive dropped a bunch into what i hope is my dream bass build. If not ill have to try again. lol

I was at a friend's today and played this. 60s Dano that was modded in the late 70s before there was vintage gear...it was either new, meh or old and worn out. This had been in storage for ages. We've been fooling around with ultra short scales (24 and 25") and he decided to throw a new set of shortened 34" scale heavy strings on it (based on some things we've learned) and had it out in his shop. Lemme tell ya....I'd gig this in a heart beat. T-40 neck PU, T60 bridge PU w/T style controls. I couldn't believe it.

So I'm really getting into peavey pickups. After playing around with that T20/fury super ferrite, I got a set of the pickups that seem to be the type that 'replaced' super ferrites when peavey stopped using them. ($20 for the set, figured it was worth a gamble) Similar size and shape to a SF, but blank except for the 'new' peavey logo in the lower right corner. They seem a little less output than the super ferrite, and seem to be less warm and middy compared to the T20/fury super ferrite I previously used.

Soloed they seemed a bit 'meh' so I slapped them both together and wired them up as one humbucker, and dang if it doesnt sound pretty good. I would compare it to a series wired Musicman humbucker, it sounds very similar to when I had one wired up passive.

Guess I'll start including foundations in my ebay searches as well :D
