I'm super happy you dig the bass(es).. makes my day knowing someone's happier (and willing to write when it's time to sel it back)
It is kind of fun putting a family tree together -- and Stacatto --- Tony wrote to me the minute I paypalled for the Unity. In a delicate and respectful manner, he told of the story with the CL jerk -- I back checked it -- then came up with a plan that he could end up with it.

Axcelerator 6
I want to banter Axcelerator 6 (considering searching for one)
How many own one?
Besides the ABM bridge, any different than an Axcelerator 5?
Would you buy one again?

I love my Axcelerator 6. It's just as well made as a Cirrus or TL, but lacks fancy woods and neck-through. I prefer bolt-on and vintage style look with pickguard, that's why I specifically searched for the Axcelerator 6. I love it; I would not buy it again because I already own one. I do not plan on selling it. I may replace the ABM bridge; I do not like it.
Anybody owns an Axcelerator Plus? How good are they? What's the difference the VEL and the VFL pickups?

Unsure why.. thinking now it may be fun to own all of the trifecta (quafecta etc)
I own an Acelerator 5 Plus.. they had different hardware ect..

Your VEL/VFL is an ad typo..
Same"ish" pickup vibe as installed in a Cirrus/TL/Millenium/GBass etc...
Tone is 1/2 way between hifi and classic passive.
I've yet to stuble accross one that was setup right.

I'm on my laptop, and don't have access to the photo's, but I can add them later I guess.
My first transaction with Tim MNAirhead, was a beautiful Dyna with a bolt on neck and VFL pickups. I don't like painted basses, but that being said, this Black Beauty had Gold trim and was just STUNNING! Not too over the top, not gaudy, just right!
It was my FIRST TB Classified purchase. Things started going wrong from the first moment! The first clue, was my Paypal account was hijacked at the time I went to make payment.
I figured, oh great....this guy is going to think I'm a dead beat! LOL.
I called a family member, used their Paypal account and made the purchase. It took over a week to clean up the mess with Paypal.
The deal being completed, I start to track the progress with FedEx.
There apparently were some weather delays up in Tim's neck of the woods, so it took about 10 days to get from the Midwest to Florida. It was a SIGNATURE REQUIRED shipment. FedEx usually comes into my development about 4pm....around noon, I had to pick up my daughter at school, sick.
I get home, and left on my doorstep out in the pouring rain. SO much for signature required! This guy probably figured he was going to drop and RUN!
I was ONLY gone like 15 minutes, and figured, it should be OK. I pull it into the garage and the thing STUNK like rotting meat! The box was crushed really bad and it was SOAKING WET...so much so, the box just fell apart.
Long story short, IT STUNK, was completely soaked like it was held under water for a long period of time. I don't think they could have intentionally tried to ruin this bass if they wanted to. NO WAY did the few minutes of rain do all this damage....
Not only did water come pouring out of the pickups, but the back plate, bridge as well. They crushed the knobs together and put a 4 inch gouge on the body, right in the sweet spot below the neck. NICE AND OBVIOUS, and had multiple scratches across the back. AND IT STUNK, did I say it STUNK?
Tim took care of all the paper work with FEDEX, including documenting its PRE shipping condition, forms, documentation of the amount I paid, the TB ad, he did it all...Probably spending countless hours on the phone with FedEx to boot. It took months, but they made good on the bass and never even came to examine it.
I was told not to touch it or do anything to it just in case FedEx wants to come and inspect it. I had to put the whole thing in huge plastic bags it stunk so badly. Apparently, their depot near Tim's place was FLOODED with all the rain. As was most of the city to boot.
It turns out that this bass has the BEST freaking neck of ANY bass I've ever played...I fell in LOVE with this thing, my FIRST PEAVEY to boot. I mean this bass felt KILLER PERFECT!
After FedEx said they would settle it, I went to work.
I took it apart as best I could, cleaned it but feared for the worst. It was starting to rust pretty badly. I was over my head, this thing needed some professional help. I took it to my luthier and had him work his magic the best he could. He buffed it out, cleaned the electronics and managed to get it up and running. The worst of the paint damage still remains, but not as bad as it was before.
The Gold trim is now all pitting, most of the screws were replaced by my luthier, including the springs on the bridge. The passive side works PERFECTLY but the ACTIVE side too some irreparable damage. Every now and then, it starts to POP when I'm playing it, and it is starting to cut out if I move too much. I use it more than ANY of my other basses, it's light, powerful and that NECK!
Current day, I won't part with this bass. Tim is on the hunt for some Dyna electronics. It's an odd Dyna..I haven't seen another just like it yet. Peavey obviously made a few different versions. My HOPES is to find a beater and use it for parts to bring my girl back to full operating condition. I don't even want to let it out of my hands. It is rapidly approaching being unplayable, but I still keep using it and I bring a backup just in case.
So, I'm on the lookout for a beater Dyna with VFL pickups if anyone out there has one, looking for any and all gold hardware to boot. Tim is checking if there is some other kind of electronics that may fit into the cavity if I can't find a parts Dyna. Anyone have any leads?
To me, it says a LOT about Peavey USA basses....to endure all this and STILL WORK....

I have a Mark VI xp, for some reason when I turn it on now nothing happened. I switch it on and off, turn knobs bla bla, then it suddenly kicks in. I can turn it back off and it will come on fine, does not cut out. It is just the initial.

There is a Peavey amps club -- you may get prompter service over there....
My initial thought are how clean are your pots? --- any scratching?
I would suggest a repost in the correct place.. I may be one of the few nuts who owns multiple peavey amps (and others)

Sounds like an intermittent connection. Most likely a connector on one of the cables.

The Peavey amp club is so inactive. I sold my Tour 700 for a Genz Benz 6.0.
There seems to be some sort of a reversal among bassists, when in the 80s we would not look at the Peavey basses, but most of us would own a Peavey amp, because they were the best watt for buck out there.
Nowadays the tendency is reversed. Peavey amps are very "blech!" and we drool over the Peavey basses, the 80s and 90s US made being very sought after.
By the way, I bought that Axcelerator Plus.

I personally love my old Peavey USA amp, its not great for super lows but running through a 4x10 or 4x12 it sounds great, and my G****r sounds awesome through it. Good ol' analog breakup. I have found their newer amps to be pretty 'meh' though.
While I've noticed prices on the basses are on the rise, there are some that fluctuate. Saw a couple nice SF equipped foundies go for less than $200, and another a little worn in for around 150. They aren't completely unknown anymore, but I think they are far from being the next big thing so we shouldnt worry too much

Just scored this 1989 Fury on e-bay.

She'll be going to Minnesota for a setup by MNAirHead, then on to me in Alabama.
My vision for this bass is to do a few really simple and easily reversible mods to give it a 50's Precision vibe.
-Gold anodized guard, or the brushed gold faux-anodized material sold by WD Music
-Cloverleaf tuners
-Knurled P-style knobs.
If the pickup and electronics are in good condition, I see no reason to replace them. Word is, Furys of this era come well equipped electronically.
It may be a while before I actually get my hands on this one, but I feel sure that a stopover in MN is going to be well worth the wait.

In the course of the purchase, I did quite a bit of talking with a woman named Rhonda who works there. Tim spoke with her, too. Awesome to deal with, and totally went above and beyond to work out the shipping to MN. They'll be getting the best possible feedback, thanks to Rhonda's willingness to work things out.
But, yeah. I've been in pawn shops where the employees are strapped. I guess they're used to dealing with all manner of scum guppies in that line of work, huh?
Some deal with firearms and/or jewelry.
Maxit is a pawn chain that do not deal is either types of items and their employees are not strapped.
I imagine there is a pumper somewhere, as sometimes explanations get heated.
