U.S. Peavey Club

There it sat, a 0813xxxx Peavey Fury, red w/ maple FB, yesterday at a local store. The 8+ bass was priced at $245. Though, it did not follow me home.
It's real nice to 'see' better examples of US Peavey basses. Holding it in my hands-put a smile on my face. :cool:

Finally pulled the trigger on a Patriot. Looks to be all original, except a missing truss rod cover and a replaced string tree. (might even have the original speed knobs, cant tell for sure from the pics so not holding my breath on that one) Got it cheap because it was listed as a project. Seller said the electronics werent working properly, but I'm pretty good with fixing that stuff, and usually it's an easy fix like scratchy pots, bad soldering, or a loose jack. Looks to be in very good shape otherwise, and I'll definitely get some pics up when it gets here.

Also it has the original molded hardshell case (though its the foam not fabric) so I couldn't resist!

So you're the one. Glad a TB'er got it. I just wanted the case and was gonna swap out the hardware off my Patriot (nothing wrong on mine just liked the idea of the black on it) fix it up and re-sell it.

They do pop up on Ebay frequently.

It's within the realm of possiblity someone could stumble upon a Patriot and part it down.. Grover Titans bring $80 used... OR they could "upgrade" it.

I'm not 100% certain that all ferrites are the same -most Iv'e seen do not have an indicating part number.

There was also an obscure Bart that fit in the hole..

Not a part I'd be rewinding.. unfortunately would cost more than a junk bass ---

PM me if interested - I know where there's a frankensteined Ferrite Dyna -- I was contacted by a TBer about the preamp -- you both may get the parts you want.

Super Ferrites are epoxied and I know of no method to remove it that's reliable. The bridge and neck PUs are magnetically out of phase. This combined with being wired electrically out of phase is what makes a pair humbucking when blended together. Don't remember which is which.

You can determine which you need with a compass or a magnet with known poles but it'd be best to get a pair.

There is another possibility for failure other than the coil being open. Strip the insulation back a little from the end that is soldered to the controls and see if the bare ground wire has melted through the insulation of one of the other wires. This can happen when too much heat is used for soldering the wires. I've seen and made PU "failures" like this that worked for years before contact was made between the wires. A high resistance contact from this type of failure can also cause a "weak" PU.

depends on the factory of origin.....Chineese children don't make basses as well as Indonesian kids....Overall BXP have a huge Schecter vibe
