My GAWD, you scored a looker AND a player. Vintage USA Peavey basses are nearly unbeatable in every category. My application for club membership
I am shocked by the excellent condition of this 1984 Peavey Foundation. What looks like a tiny scratch in the lower left bout is just a little wiry hair courtesy of my terrier. It came with the original bullet hard case with manual! Neck is dialed in perfectly with no fret buzz from first to last fret. While all my other basses are Precisions with alnico pickups, I've always loved the aggressive edge of ceramic pickups and the Super Ferrites definitely deliver. I just got it this past Sunday. It currently has D'Addario Half Wounds that will soon be replaced with my fave DR HiBeams for even more aggressive edge. I can't wait to unleash it at my next band rehearsal. You’ve got one or two of every Peavey bass made!
So nice! The 80s Foundations seem to be (to me) incredibly well done basses. My main one is a black/maple 84. I had a twin to it, but sold it because I was being a little silly having two of them. (I also have a ton of other Peaveys from the same era)long lost twin brother of a different mother

What I did on mine was to just switch out the tuner wings of the E string and switch it with the Hipshot. They will all look uniform. It just requires a Phillips head. Simple.Hey, haven't been back in a while (update on the shielding: I still don't know what I did wrong, but at least it doesn't make anything worse. And I also cut a small piece of wood to help compensate for the height adjustment screw hole on the pup I managed to strip out a decade ago due to idiocy, so that was nice being able to properly adjust it again)
So anyway,
I've been thinking about getting one of those hipshot detuner things, and I think the right one for my '87 Peavey Patriot bass is the GB5 Bass Xtender here buuuuuuuut they don't make it anymore and I can't find it easily online (tried ebay, reverb, and our own classifieds).
Do any of you know where I might be able to get my hands on one, or would have some way to work out which would be the best substitute? I'd only put one on the low string.

EbayAnyone got a source for Hipshot tuners or other? need 5 3/8 for a bass
and I had two fall apart on me. And just wanted to order two more for it
It's an exercise in patience, for sure. I kept a ebay and reverb search with email alerts for the Xtender. I would get a surprise email every few months. My last hit 9 months ago when a seller had both chrome and black EB4, so I got one of each.Hey, haven't been back in a while (update on the shielding: I still don't know what I did wrong, but at least it doesn't make anything worse. Really cool color too! There is a P/J FORUM on Reverb. These are so rare. I've owned the dual and single VFL, but not the P/J. I don't know if I've ever seen one.
I don't remember what Chuck's active P/J was.
If any of you are looking for a 7ender deluxe precision bass killer, this IS it. The preamp on these sound fantastic.
