Due to the truss rod cover (and how it's mounted) the hole can be commonly opened up (and not visible when the cover is on)

I'm guessing this may be the most complex part of building the bass (truss hole) as it may have been done with more complex cuts etc... for a VERY consistent bass, this is the single part that has variables.

I made a solution. Found the right size nut driver, put it in a vice and smacked it a few times with a hammer.

Worked like a charm. Bass is back together, neck adjusted, strings intonated (B was just a hair flat a the 12th fret,) truss rod cover reinstalled and it sounds great.

Thanks for all the help with this one.

Just a 16 oz. regular old hammer. Smacked it gently until it started to bend, then a bit more vigorously until I got it where I wanted it.

Pretty cold in the garage today, was afraid it would be brittle, but all good in the end. :smug:

The real beauty of this is that these nut drivers can be picked almost anywhere and they are very inexpensive. Not big loss if it broke, but I could also be sure it reached the nut when the Peavey tool clearly wasn't going to reach.

So, I made a run at the Super Ferrite pickups that were on Ebay last night, but lost out at the last second when I missed hitting the confirm bid button.

Good news is that I really didn't need the pickups and hope whoever got them enjoys them. My Foundy sounds great as is.

I had DR Legend flats on it for a while. Don't recommend them. Just don't like the sound and feel of them on that bass. Put them on my fretless and they are okay on that one.

I really like D'Addario Chromes on the Fury, but would love to try LaBella Deep Talking flat someday.

Course the good thing is that I may never need to replace the Chromes. Spend a fair amount once v. spend marginally less fairly often. Flats can go on forever.

Tried a mute on it yesterday (sort of jerry-rigged one) and will be getting some material for a better one today. Immediately had to play "Stir it Up" when I heard the difference the mute made. :)
