I couldn't believe it was so inexpensive and sounded that good.
The folks over at the Thunderbird thread recommended it.
Funny because the Thunderbucker Ranch, Lollar and Mike Lull were way more expensive and I don't know if they sound any better.
What pickup do you like best in your 51P builds?
When our very own 'God of Thunder' Scott Dasson gave it the thumbs up, I needed no further convincing.
The other 3 probably sound no better or that much different but folks hope that by name dropping aftermarket brands and $200 price tags they will appear serious to the uninitiated
Single coils ?
TBH, they're all pretty much a muchness. That said I didn't like the Duncan SCPB-2 or 3. A surprising one is the alnico 5 plenty Chinese eBay sellers list, think Duncan SCPB-1 but for $15 - $20
With regards to humbuckers. The Bi & Chi Sonics sound great but they're in different positions from the T-bird, Thunderblade and Entwistle Neo.
Not to let folks in this place feel left out.

Me too. I find it to be nearly perfect. Mine is like yours with the calligraphy font. I have half rounds on mine, too.

Entwistle Neo is a split-P with no connection to The Ox
Fella called Alan Entwistle has been on the UK guitar scene since the 60's, ended up heading Hohner's custom shop in Wales. About 6 years back Alan got back in the game with a range of pickups, the bass options are ceramic or neodymium. Just basic low wire count units and dirt cheap. Ceramic Jazz models sound very similar to the later Foundation singles in the VFL shape shells, neodymium will blow you out of your socks
Remember those DE Scorpio Zodiacs loaded with Duncan QPs, I ended up owning two; popped an Entwistle PJ set in one.
For years I heard folk describe QPs as high output; next to the Neos , they're hanging with the church mice
Two Zodiacs, same strings (Roto Nexus), same pickup heights, same recording settings.

TBH there's no need for that much output .

Does anyone know offhand what size mounting screws peavey used on their clover key 80s tuners? I came into some black (non peavey, but same build) ones but need black screws.

I would love to play a slant and chime in. I only have played Gen 2 & 3 and love them. Merry Christmas everyone!
I like my slant a bit better even with the skinny neck...it has a beefier sound and I really like the thumb rest. I actually have been playing my Gen2 quite a bit lately the neck has a rounder profile not super skinny and it has a great P-sound.
I have not owned either version. The closest is my 94 Forum Plus, which is really a P/J equipped Gen 3 Fury.
However, from playing a couple T20s and Gen 1 Furys, I can say with 100% certainty that I prefer the Slant version.
