If you're in the same world I am (some gigs almost require the name fender on the front and california on the back... there were some pbass specials that had a neck almost identical to a fury. Sucks to then have to make it look and sound better.. but I'm not going to change perception.

This is a preference thing.... for some reason they weren't big demand when they were released.

For some reason, when properly setup, they fit my perception and feel the best. When my house was on fire, I bypassed all of the botiques and collectables and brought one single Millenium (I own 2).

Stock the setup is not that great... once they're dialed in, they are just about as perfect as it gets.

CE stickers are to show compliance with European standard(s) around health and safety requirements. So that Foundation may have been prepped for export to Europe.

I bought this bass for $50 twelve years ago. Whoever I bought it from, stained it a walnut color. I sanded it down, put a glossy tru oil finish on it, and built a pickguard out of purpleheart. Traded it at a pawn shop and last night saw it on FB Marketplace. Went and picked it up today and traded a Foundation S that I got for $60 at a pawn shop. The Foundation sounded great, but I had to get this back.

This looks like a maple-bodied Patriot to boot...this baby is the perfect candidate to become a RicRiot someday if she is ever modded again...

I used a Guitar Fuel preamp with a stacked bass/treble pot and active/passive switch with no tone control. Played it a little bit last night when I got home from the trade. A little boomy on the bass side, but sounds good when I roll off the bass. In passive mode, sounds pretty good. Not too much on the treble side. May try lowering the pickup a little more. Need to spend a little time making some adjustments and some cleaning. I have a black Schaller 3-D bridge and matching tuners. Looking at the bridge on there now, it looks a little crooked. The gold hardware was from a Koa Unity that I changed out to black hardware. Not much on gold, especially since its so worn. So glad to have her back, even though I don't play much.

Edit- Of course the bare wire is always ground.

I have my green And white tied together

red to output and a black wire tied with the bare wire

so I’d be swapping that black wire with either green or the white then?

I like the purple heart pickguard.
Not sure what the body wood is.
Way less grain showing that my hackberry/ash Gen 1 Fury.
But much different from the poplar that Peavey used on so many painted basses.
The grain doesn't really look like maple to me either.
It could be very light colored ash or hackberry maybe.
I think we need an opinion from Davie kodiakblair our resident wood expert.

I'm going out on a limb (pun intended) and say this is poplar.

I did build the cabinet. My wife's cousin and husband used to work for Peavey in the 90's. When he left he did some work for either Eden or Mesa and got me the 10's and horn. I built the cabinet and he hand wired the crossover. It is loud and heavy. He also worked one on one with Eddie and developed the speakers for the 5150 cabinet. He also worked with the Stones on their PA for the Steel Wheels tour.

I'm sure it's not either poplar or cottonwood. Just looked up the manual and it states the body was made of either maple or ash. I'll take a better picture tonight that will show the grain better. It's a pretty porous grain like ash.

From the Peavey manuals that I've read on all their basses, they used lots of poplar on opaque painted basses.
I've used some poplar wood for various things (not bass related) in the last decade or two and found the grey/green streaks make it look a lot different than some other poplar products I've seen. I would guess that Home Depot poplar is not the best stuff available.
If I had stained that bass I would have used something darker and sanded it back some to show the grain a bit more.
The manual for the Patriot calls out maple or ash and I'm not sure they ever used either on Patriot basses.
What they call ash was sometimes actually hackberry (according to conversations of employees on record) what they call out as mahogany was actually meranti on my "mahogany" Patriot.
Why would they use maple for a body and then paint it?
Peavey was always trying to find cheap sources for materials, so I'm not surprised that they "cheated" a bit on some of the woods.
Not that there is anything wrong with poplar wood for a bass body.
