Man, this is probably the prettiest Koa Dyna I have ever seen. It's for sale on the Vancouver Craigslist, very steep price and looks like it has been refinished. I have never seen one with a poly? finish.View attachment 7011107

Looks like a nice one. Not sure about the finish, but when ya think about it....an all-koa neck thru bass with an ebony board and top shelf hardware (looks like a Schaller roller bridge to me) , might cost a small fortune these days. Some of the old koa Carvins were kinda special too. Don't see many of them for sale much anymore, either.

Here's something we don't see everyday, fretless rosewood board 40...frickin' pricy!

"Fingerboard has been reconditioned. New strings. Trussrod adjusted for performance. Fret board radius and intonation also."
This verbiage makes me think it might have have a new fretboard....or at the very least they have sanded it down and refinished it to get rid of wear marks.

It's a nice bass but price is out to lunch.

Well, asking prices are just that aren't they? A quick look at the web showed the cheapest T40 asking price is $899 plus whatever shipping they get. Great basses, but come on. I am one of the lucky people who bought both of mine for peanuts.

MGR Columbus OH has a black/rosewood 1979 with toasters, spare strings and a generic case for $749.99.

Way I see asking prices go is week 1 it's $1200 or $1400, drops to $800 on week 2 then stays like that for months.

Most folks interested in T-40's already own one.

Those are my thoughts exactly kodiak. The laugh is I saw a white one on E Bay i think, they wanted over 3k? Good luck with that. My white 84' cost me $275 with a perfect OHC.

Best tone from a Peavey bass: It's got to be a Super Ferrite... I'll say Patriot with GHS Pressurewounds
Best neck on a Peavey bass: Gen3 Fury with the single piece neck+fretboard. I just love the super slim feel. I practice on this bass every day
Best finish/color on a Peavey bass: I'm going with the natural ash (hackberry) with the satin finish
Most undesireable Peavey bass: Millennium with the JJ PUP setup
Favorite bass overall (can be non-Peavey): MM Bongo HH

Best finish/color on a Peavey bass: Really like the flame maple tops
Most undesireable Peavey bass: Any that weigh over nine pounds.
Favorite bass overall (can be non-Peavey): US Millennium but I suspect a Dingwall super P/PJ 5er might rock my world as well. Don't know for sure never held one.

Most desired Peavey bass you don't own: Fretless 4 string Cirrus

Best tone from a Peavey bass: Ricky G. When it comes to stock- '87 Fury. I really haven't played tons of Peaveys and since tone is largely in the fingers, I'm not going to say Cirrus (or other models,) just because I've heard a bunch of good players get really nice tones out of them.

Best neck on a Peavey bass: My two G Basses

Best finish/color on a Peavey bass: Black T-40 with rosewood fretboard

Most undesireable Peavey bass: Any that can't be setup properly. I haven't played any models that didn't feel good from an ergonomic standpoint, or were irrevocably ugly. I can always change the pickups/electronics if I want a different sound. Or strip the paint off if I don't like the appearance.

Favorite bass overall (can be non-Peavey): At the moment, my parts fretless P bass (MIM Fender Jazz neck, unknown brand mahogany P body) with 916 Super Ferrite Ps in the standard position and reverse in the bridge position (with independent outputs.)

Best finish/color on a Peavey bass: Violet quilt on Millennium BXP, much more deep and vibrant than the violet quilt on my Millennium Plus
Most undesireable Peavey bass: Tie between G-Bass/Grind USA/Sarzo.
Favorite bass overall (can be non-Peavey): Harley Benton PB-50 with TI jazz flats. Preferred the £76 1st gen with Wilkinson single coil but today's £100 with the Roswell pickup is no slouch; as long as you ditch those D'Addario roundwounds

I'd be surprised if you had, Zephyrs were produced solely for the European market.

What I liked is they're fairly wide, quite flat and not too thin, similar to a Grind NTB but 34" scale length.

The Grind is my favourite bass (especially the original MIV) on any given day. Still don't own one one but one day. A decent set of PUP's and electronics would transform that bass. Yes i know that they are heavy and the finish can be iffy but what a smooth neck!
