This is easy for me.

For my tastes the v1 Foundation is the Peavey model that comes closest to being an "ideal" bass. All "pros"and no "cons". If I had to find one niggle it'd be that they can run a bit heavy.

Favorite Peavey bass you own: My beat up black '85 Foundy and my 'Hog patriot, I gig both quite often.
Most desired Peavey bass you don't own: Pearl Heather Foundation
Best tone from a Peavey bass: I run 'em wide open.
Best neck on a Peavey bass: Hard one!...I can't decide!
Best finish/color on a Peavey bass: Paint, not into fancy tops.
Most undesireable Peavey bass: Anything after @1990
Favorite bass overall (can be non-Peavey): Fender Pbass at the moment, it was one of the first basses I ever played when my (tiny) high school bought it new in '85, to my great surprise and excitement I ended up acquiring it by trading a brand new G&L B100 for it a couple years ago.

While on vacation in Maine two weeks ago, we stopped in at an antique store that we have visited every year since 2004-ish. This is one of those large antique stores that rents booth spaces out to vendors. There's one vendor that consistently has old instruments, ranging from old woodwinds to brass to... guitars. A few years ago, he had an old Gibson with one pup that I had never seen before; I'll try to dig up a pic, but it was really unique. The next year, an Epi Black Beauty that had been modded to use three pups, a la Frampton. Following, an old 12-string, in good shape. I passed on all of those and wound up, last year, purchasing an old Finnish acoustic from the booth. This year, we arrive in Maine, go to the store the next day (to get it out of our system), and there are no guitars in the booth. My wife mentions this to one of the store owners, who says that she'll call the vendor in that booth and let him know that "this woman's husband collects guitars". Nice. The vendor says that he'll be in on Wednesday. We go back Wednesday afternoon. What do you think is sitting in the corner?

1992 Peavey Fury... $240 net. I'm thinking, "DUDE!"

Of all the frickin' things that this guy could bring in... So, of course, I bought it (along with another acoustic... I know, I know...).

I played it the rest of the vacation when we weren't out hiking. It was a joy to pack in to the car, along with the acoustic, two border collies, an Australian shepherd, a cat (with full-size litter pan), and all of our stuff. The Fury literally had to lay along my left leg as we drove the 10 hours home. Every time we hit a bump in the road or went around a hard right turn, the bass body would push against the seat controls and cause my legs to plummet towards the floor. Still, $240. It was worth it.

NOW - this thing has not been particularly well cared for. Body on the back is scratched in places, dinged in others. Neck is dinged. Black body, white pickguard, what looks like maple fret board. Gnurled metal knobs... not a fan of those; I prefer the plastic ones on my circa '87 Furys. Also not a fan of the tuning keys, but I will live with them. I will leave the pups alone, but man I want to re-finish the body and replace the pickguard. I don't really care about the time involved. I expect to need to sand the entire thing down. I'm not the least bit concerned with re-sale impact; this bass is staying here. Anyone listening ever refinished a Fury body? Wondering what I should expect. Final finish will be determined by how clean I can get it. I will leave the neck alone (matte finish).

Favorite Peavey bass you own: I have a Black Onyx Millenium 5 they personalized the fit (I wont go as far as to say custom shop)... just think of it as fitted.

Most desired Peavey bass you don't own: A non freak looking BQuad 5 that has a dependable/giggable electronics.


Best tone from a Peavey bass: Hands down a USA Millenium 5>GK>Pro Sound Crew


Best neck on a Peavey bass: USA Millenium (once they're properly shimmed and setup)


Best finish/color on a Peavey bass: Just about any of the strange glittery color ones they came out with... flame maple is dependable (if not colored)


Most undesireable Peavey bass: T-Anything... the T Stands for Turd (not Todd)


Favorite bass overall (can be non-Peavey): Bogart Blackstone 5 is stunning if you have clean technique and gear that can amplify it correctly.... they make a Wal seem like an incomplete toy.... I sold it back to the owner with "you made a real mistake." Bought a never gigged Emerald Flow - like the Bogart, they have to be mated with the correct gear and technique.

Best finish/color on a Peavey bass: Personally, I like ones that show they've been loved...
Most undesireable Peavey bass: ?
Favorite bass overall (can be non-Peavey): I had a maple neck on a Fender that felt nice to play but still love my Foundation

I've had two T-40's which were great, but my 1st gen Fury was my favorite.

That being said, PLEASE anyone with a 1st gen Fury / slanty pickup version, can you make a simple paper tracing/template of your pickguard? I need to make one because I can't find any used ones on the market. Will pay for your time!
