Has somebody messed with your Axcelerator ?

The RSB pairs VFL pickups with passive Vol, Blend, Tone.

Axcelerators shipped with VFLs and a High/Low Boost/Cut preamp.

Other way 'round, I think. But yeah, the RSB is missing the stacked treble/bass knob, so that is different. I am not sure it's stock though, because the electronics look too new. I also don't think it sounds quite right, so I'll have to investigate. I didn't think to consider the preamp could be passive with active pickups, but it seems to be the case since it just has a "tone" knob. Peavey is so weird ;-)

At any rate, I would say they were made about the same time because they have the same bridge, tuners, neck construction/finish, angled headstock, so feel really similar. 'Course, there is the funky headstock. At any rate, it is a really sharp looking bass. Oh, I think the neck radius is larger, since it seems flat like my fretless axcell.

Thank you! I couldn't find a picture of the RSB electronics anywhere. Yes, both are totally stock, which is good news. I think it's possible the strings I put on the RSB are the source of the unusual sound. I put the new DR coated strings on it, and I think I think their construction is different from anything else, so who knows. I'll try different strings next time.

Does anyone have an extra white or cream pickguard for a mid-90’s Fury P bass they’d be willing to part with? It’s the one with the slightly curved left side by the bridge.
(I don’t think the straight one would fit properly.)

The folks over at Pickguard Planet can get very easily confused so make sure you are super clear and emphatic with your communications with them.

I have a spare aged white pickguard for the Gen 2 Fury. That's the one that goes straight across under the pickup instead of the curved under the pickup for Gen 3 Fury. I also have a spare fancy custom guard for the Gen 1 Fury. Anybody wants either they are available for sale.

I've bought two pickguards from Pickguard Planet and had good luck. They are a bit expensive but they fit. The first was for my 94 Fury and I was able to buy it without sending a copy. The second was for a Squier tele bass and I had to send the original before they would fill the order. Seems to me they run between $50 and $70 for the custom cut they do. I might have the white pickguard from the Fury if I can find it. Give me a day or so. Please post if you find one sooner.

Only if your definition of "rare" runs to a several thousand units.

Peavey's production line handled 500 units per day so there is very little can truly be classed as rare.

I had one that I blacked out completely, it was good looking and in really clean condition but it was just not as nice a bass as my Gen 1 or Gen 2 Fury basses, so I sold it.
