ARGH.... Now I have to look. Why do these things pop up like a few days past buying a silly expensive bass. Even in boomer burst... are you including the cirrus preamp?

With Peavey stuff... patience & quality tension strings and (understanding of geometry)... it's often possible to have the neck arrow straight and insanely low action.
guess you get to have someone guard your wallet while you search for 25 more.
Played my first Forum AX last night. Have to say for full disclosure, i want it bad. This was my first encounter with one of these, a later model with the wider nut, really substantial, medium heavy, excellent tone, really covers the bases (no pun intended). $499 seems a bit expensive but I've seen passive import Millennium's going for almost as much. As i said, i want it but don't need it. The only flaw i could find was a small chip in the finish on the back and someone has screwed down the neck pick up way too much. All in all a great bass almost like a poor man's Cirrus.

Well way back on page 1550 I indicated I might try my hand at making an aluminum pickguard and that I would post pictures if I wasn't too embarrassed. I reckon I ought to be too embarrassed but as it turns out I have no shame, so here you are, my fine gentlemen.
I bought a sheet of aluminum at the nearest metal shop and went at it first with a jigsaw and drill, then with nibblers, then with files and finally with various grits of sandpaper. I tried to do a brushed look but some of the scratches were too deep for my patience. Pretty rough looking but I still have the old guard if I get tired of how ugly it is. Still undecided what kind of knobs to put on. I like the knurled metals ones on my Strat, might go for some of those.

Are all those little metal pieces thumb rests/tug bars in different positions?
Thanks! And no, they are mounts for a gizmotron string bowing dealy.
Just a reminder to have them wire the foundation exactly the way you sent it.

I was just thinking of this today after spending a long time practing with my Foundation—just recently I had told someone that even though it’s not my fanciest bass (or a longtime dream bass like the other two I’ve got), I still find myself as smitten with it as the day I first laid hands on it whenever I play it.
It’s just such an awesome bass. And I hadn’t even heard of it when I saw it the first time! Just grabbed it out of my curiosity about the T40.
Was not prepared to be so under its spell.
The neck and the Super Ferrites, man. Especially the Super Ferrites. What a sound.
I love all three I have very much but sometimes, when I reach a flow state playing it, I think the Foundation is like… the one true bass (for me).
Anyone else feel similarly?

Well my guy had a bit of a problem. When he opened the bass up and tried to use some of the parts that I sent with the bass. Regular CTS 250k pots, would not fit. The pot wasn't long enough. So now I had to order a set of longer CTS 500k pots. Now the waiting game begins.
More than a decade ago I was forced to let a bass go. It came down to my natural/rosewood Foundation and my graphite Dyna Bass with Super Ferrites. I offered them both to a friend for the same price, secretly hoping that he would take the Dyna…but he took my Foundation instead. I still have (and love) the Dyna, but darn if there just wasn’t some magic happening with that Foundation. I am currently rehabbing his butchered 1960 EB-0. If all goes well, I may be reunited with my old Foundation

Yeah....our singer is also a classically trained bassoon player. She's been finding ways to weave it into our setlist for different songs. Always fun to hear what she comes up with.
