This just arrived today, a '91 Dyna 5:

I put Sadowsky flats on it and the action is super low. it sounds great.

I got it to go with this '87:

My Friends,

After over a quarter-century playing bass I just acquired my first Peavey. This Dyna-Bass Unity Series was a pawn shop find and I can't wait to get it home and get some new strings on it!

Hey guys, was hoping someone could help me out here. While I own a Fury, Patriot and a Foundation I have never looked seriously at one of the higher priced Peaveys. I have a chance to pick up a Millennium for almost nothing. From the pics it looks great. My question are there non-USA models of this bass. If so, what should I be looking for? Any help greatly appreciated.

Mostly you can look at the pickups, tuners, and scale length. All the USA models were 35" scale except the STD. IT was 34" but is the only one with a pj pickup set up. If it has mm/j pickup config, it is USA. There is also a jj set up. It will have the seventies pickup spacing. If it has hipshot tuners, it is USA. Some USA models do have gotoh style tuners too. Check out the USA millennium club for great pics of all the USA models, and then you can match it up. If you can, post a pick here.

The vast majority of Millenniums out there are not made in the USA. the easiest way to tell is to look for the "BXP" designation on the headstock.

However, if it's not there, iit still could be a BXP model.

What you should look for in a US-made model is the odd triangle logo on the front of the headstock, and a serial number embossed into the wood on the back of the headstock.

No need to ask about the serial no. That is absolutely a US-made bass. How much is "almost nothing"? If you pick this bass up for under $300, it's a good deal. Under $200 and it's a smoking deal.

It is smoking deal. Not much under 200, but still under. This person received as a gift as I am told and never even played it really. I don't think they know what they have. In a way I feel like I should offer more knowing what it is. That feeling passes real quick though. Only drawback is that I am not thrilled with the color. Kinda purple tiger look.

Purple tiger = Millennium PLUS! Unplayed? You should buy that bass asap. If they came up with the price, that's on them. I wouldn't even think about offering them more.

I consider those Millennium Plus basses to be on the level of US Laklands. If you find that you can't stand the color, you can sell it for double what it cost you.

I can't scoop it up till Thursday, but she said she would hold it for me. So lets just hope no one else realizes what it is. I will post up some pics on Thursday if the deal does happen. I believe it will though. Oh yeah the headstock is not black like the ones in your pictures. It is all maple with the logo and triangle thing in black.
