Actually there were plenty of foundation models without the super ferrite pickups. As well as "Foundation S" models with P-J pickup configuration I think.

I saw that one, Jazz pick ups. Wanted $250 or so BIN? Otherwise it looked clean, but who knows what was done to put the non stock pick ups in. I can't believe bidding on T40's is over $500 now. Hopefully the market corrects soon.

That's a rare one, indeed! It's one of the very early 'natural' Foundations. That one has a mahogany body...even more scarce than the 'natural' ash body that I had...and it has the upgraded Schaller tuners. If it's reasonable...grab it now!

Those are the exact knobs I have on my 89 Foundation...and a Foundation fretless from the same era.

Well, I just did my first gig w/the Cirrus 6..... spent 10min. on it yesterday and then dove into a three set Latin gig tonight
it sounded amazing going straight to the board, felt great but most of all....
I knew it was a great bass when at the end of the gig a very attractive woman came up to us to let us know how good we sounded and then said, "that's the biggest bass I've ever seen!"...which of course I had to then let her try it out... seriously, never have had that happen ever.. truly the mark of a great bass

I have two Peavey 4 strings that I find t be outstanding instruments - a KOA Dyna bass w/PJ pickups and a very rare
2-T Axelerator. The Dyna Bass has a 5 piece thru body neck and the construction is top shelf. Someone stuck some EMG Select pickups in it so I'll be swapping those out for a rare set of active Seymour Duncan (with the three micro switches) and matching preamp. I'll then take on anyone playing anything

My 2-T Axcelerator features a factory installed 2-Tek thru body bridge and is clear as chrystal and sustains for days. The jury is still out on the preamp though. It's nice but I wish I could move the affected frequencies around just a bit. I picked the Dynabass up in a loca pawn shop for $160. And I got the 2-T Axelerator off of eBay for a buy it now price of a KILLER $175 including a Peavey hard case, strap AND and MP3 player; I don't think the guy knew what he had... but I did
As a side note, I don't know if it is/was marketing, poor factory set-up or what buy I've said here on TB a million times, If folks would only disregard the headstock logo and trust their hands and ears, they too would understand. Along those same lines, my next perchase is a TUME TWB43. CHeck the Sam Ash site; they just dropped the proce by $70. I played one last summer in at Sam Ash in NYC and was sold. The price to value is out of this world. I already have the 5 string version and LOVE IT!!

Wow $175 for an Axcelerator 2Tek. Ever since I got my 6 string I've been thinking of getting it a four string buddy. I'm sure it sounds as good as mine does. Nice score. I keep the preamp bass and treble flat; I'm kind of a passive bass kind of guy.
