So has anyone redone a contour case. Should I try recovering the inside or just cut out an insert for the bottom and put a strip of fabric along the top. Also should I try and remove the glue that's still in there?

I've done two of them. Bought brown imitation fur at a local fabric shop, along with 1/4 inch foam to place in stock position. glued the foam down with spay on contact cement. Then covered the back of the fur and the inside of one side of the case with contact cement. Pressed it together and trimmed with a matt knife. Then repeated the process on the other side. Worked great.

Ok bought a case in eBay today with the original brown interior. I've got a 79 T40 that came without a case. And my 83 T-20 came with a contour case that had the foam. I think I'll use the contour car with brown interior for the 79 and I'm removing the glue now inside my other contour case. That's the project I'm posting on tonight. I have an idea and well see through the nexus few posts how it works.

Had a roll of this wool type stuff we bought it for a dog house and so I had a good bit left over. I cut the shape very slowly and carefully after I scraped the glue out, then sewed Velcro to the back and then turned it over and stuck it down. So now I can remove it but it's very secure.

I've been thinking about that. I've been thinking about that, but I'm gonna use this case for my 79. Natural finished T40 which has the older un-rounded body. I think it will fit better. I just ordered this case off eBay for this painted T20.

Idk can't decide. Idk if this T20 really came with this case or not I know it was a foam case and not a lined one. And since I didn't get a contour case with my 79 T40 idk if it would have had a lined contour case or the older square green lined case. It has the older style tuners and pick guard so idk but I figure the painted bass will work better in the lined case.

So now I have a contour case with all my T series basses. My 88 foundry has the crappy square case that it came with. Really flimsy.

Any ideas for covering small dings in the paint. Just so it doesn't chip more. Not looking for a showroom bass I like the character.


What a cool color whatever the name was back then it's a cool metal flake candy.

Peavey Patriot 1987 USA - Natural Mahogany.

I bought it for 250$ from some guy in my country,it's my second bass.

Sound is just sick - warm,mid-range puncy sound.

Patriot basses are no slouch! I prefer the larger super-ferrite pickup used in the T-20 and the slant-Furys for its higher output and more low end, but the smaller one used in Patriots/Foundations/Dynas are still plenty punchy

Mine needed MAJOR tilt adjustment. I guess Peavey cut the heel pocket to accommodate this, thereby requiring it. I don't like having such a huge air gap between the neck and body so I'm getting a large shim cut that tapers to zero.

So far "knock on wood" all of my other peavy's have needed little tilt adjustment. But I don't do the setup I take it to a pro, which I am not.

Oh yeah and not guitar center either. I had a bass setup there once it was almost unplayable when I took it back they would not redo the setup without more money. So I found out about my guy from a lot of older local guys and I took it to him and he explained 6 things that he found that GC had done wrong or either not looked at. So I and my band use him exclusively.
