I wouldn't put a sticker on a Cirrus or any other bass like that. The sticker on the T40 in the last pic is something like what I want to do...kind of tell the world who makes this wicked bass you know.

And as for that green axe with all those stickers? Well, maybe if they were cool stickers it might not have been so bad but ...blech.... I guess they meant something to one that put them on. Or else they didn't like the green and was trying to cover it?

The red wood in the middle is set up sooo nice, I also love the way the grain looks...my favorite.
The two redwood sound really close, even though they have a different brand of strings on them right now. The walnut has a slightly brighter tone, where as the redwood is warmer.

I thought is was a slight difference until my wife starting telling me which bass I playing without looking. (redwood or walnut)

I've been told the bubinga and Maple are even brighter sounding.

the back of my Zodiac is already half covered with stickers :D but that's just me, I dig stickers and the ones that are on there aren't too many run of the mill stickers so there is some thought behind it.

My US Tiger-Eye 6 is stickerless...so far :hiding:

in my 16+ years of playing(brief, yes I know) I've never used flats on a fretless, always rounds. I've tried a few fretless' with flats on them and like I said, I've always used rounds. :smug:

as long as you let the tone/feel of flats on a fretless be the arguement then ok, but if the reason you're wanting flats is to "save" the fingerboard...... please don't buy into that dead horse of a topic. If you play so hard that you need to refret your fretteds every year or so then definitely yes, stay away from fretless and maybe take up drumming :D but if you've never needed a refret and don't typically murder/whiteknuckle the strings into the fingerboard then don't hesitate to try rounds.

Hey guys,while we are on the string subject.I wanted to put a set of DR's on my Redwood Cirrus.I wanted to get the Red Devils,but they only come in long scale,which I don't know if they would be long enough for my 35 inch scale Cirrus,or go with the Extra longs as my only option.I'm a bit confused.I was also looking at the DR Highbeems,but not sure if they are long enough either? WHEWWWWWWWWWWW. All this for strings.Could someone help me out here? Thanks Joe:rollno:

The guy selling the one locally turned out to be a total FLAKE :rollno: So I just nabbed this one on eBay. :bassist:

I need to find some matching spandex now :cool:

Just for the Point/Counterpoint angle, there are some ground-wound strings that are 'flat' on the outside, but 'round' on the inside. the Reeses of bass strings, if you will... GHS Brite-Flats, Rotosound Flats, and D-Addario Half-Rounds. These are all more flexy-feeling and behave a good deal like rounds, but won't gouge your fingerboard, if this is how you want to approach it.

You are welcome - I think the string companies make it harder than it has to be. I used to use Rotosounds on my Millennium and the Longs would fit (barely) if top-loaded but were short thru the body.

Rosewood fretboard! I'll bet it sounds great!!

On a pricing note - I know it seems like the price of these basses is going up rapidly, but I'm not sure this is true. I have seen a bunch of T-40's on Ebay with starting prices of $400 plus, but none of them sold. The average price I'm finding is around $350, with most selling for around $275. A few spectacular examples that sell for understandably higher prices bring the average cost up. I'd pay $400 or more happily for the one above or for one of the white ones with the matching headstock, but not for the more common natural/maple ones.
