Good things are also happening in Eastern North Carolina today. I was blessed to be able to purchase this 1987 Patriot from the son of the late Bobby Duke. Bobby was a country and western bass player for over 60 years. He played in honkytonks up and down the southeast coast in many bands and later was the studio bassist for the Country Hour live radio show in Raleigh for many years. Bobby Jr. showed me pictures of Sr. playing a Fender P but later on he decided to switch to the Patriot because it was so much lighter. Later in life Bobby's band would play in nursing homes. The bass came with Fender flats which I expect were installed shortly after it was purchased. I have no intention of removing them. Bobby Sr. passed away in 2003 and the bass has sat in storage since then without being played.

The bass came with the original bullet case, however the lining was gone. In the case were the original strap and thumb pick which Bobby used along with coiled style cord. Here he is playing the bass at some point with the very same pick, strap and cord. The pickguard is scratched with the telltale marks of a thumb picker. Scratches above the E from the pick and below the G from fingernails. Otherwise the bass is in perfect condition. I got home and dusted it off and plugged it in and the tuning was about the same amount low on each string....a testament to the sturdy Grovers.

It needs a string height adjustment, the E is very low and the others a bit high. Neck is straight and true. I told Bobby Jr. that I would keep the history of this bass intact and play it proudly. There's something special about a legacy bass with a known history....at least to me. Oh, and the price....I would have paid more but he accepted my offer of $180. Yes, it's been a very good day.

Hot on the heels from Saturday's Peavey goodness I got wind of an Axcelerator 5 for sale yesterday,put the word out via FB. The young fella who bought the Cirrus CS bolt on just let me know he's on the case :D £200 or 10 Domino pizzas he doesn't really have a choice :roflmao:

Thanks! I've never had a Peavey bass before - odd since I'm a Mississippi native. I'll post some more pictures when I get the parts worked out.

Speaking of which, what are good sources for knobs (not the T series style)? I ordered a set off Amazon advertised as fitting a 3/16" diameter shaft, but they do not - too small. I think they are metric, which makes sense as they're Chinese parts.

Those look like 6mm, 12 tooth knurl, split shaft pots. There is also a 6mm, 18 tooth knurl, plastic shaft that won't fit

Pic request: I recently stole the OBP-3 out of a first gen TL5, and replaced it with the original dyna pre. Can one of you send me a pic of a wired up dyna pre, just so I can make sure I'm good before I hook this thing up backwards and let out the magic smoke? Please and thank you.

This arrived yesterday been looking for one for a while, an American made 1992 Peavey Foundation Bass in the classic Black & Maple combination with Super Ferrite pickups. It's genuinely relic-ed & cost less than a new Squier how is this possible, if there is a number available I'll take it. I have always loved American made Peavey basses from the 70's to 90's.

There was one like that at a GC sorta near me (far enough away to make me hesitate, priced too high for me to pay in full to order from a closer store transfer), I should check up on it, see if it is still there.

I had missed & lost out on a couple like that and one was an '84 with OHSC for £100 gutted :banghead:. Taking mine to a guitar shop this morning to have the truss rod checked, as I dont have a 5/16th wrench. But last Sunday when I saw this I couldn't pass this up :thumbsup:.
