I like the Peavey Bass and the vaccuumed carpet !!
Just picked up this Millenium 5 in a trade and already love it!
Got this from JoshB who got it from Cubanbass who got it from Dr.Cheese.
I believe that the necks that look like Modulus were in fact made under contract by Modulus. I wouldn't be surprised if Peavey switched OEMs for the graphite/Carbon Fiber (I always though they were the same thing) G-bass necks in mid-run if they got a better supplier price. Every G Bass I've ever played in stores with both types of necks has been awesome.I don't want to sound condescending (honestly!), but simply look at it.
If it looks plain black (like a Moses or Zon), it's the graphite composite. If you can see the carbon fibers (like on a Modulus), it's carbon fiber.
I believe the B Quad used a Modulus neck. When I spoke with folks at Peavey, my impression was that the G bass necks were actually made by an aerospace firm with lots of experience in carbon fiber manufacturing-and not a 'traditional' music instrument concern.

Yeah, I heard this too, but totally did not know for sure... similarly, I also heard those graphite necks were also done by Moses under a similar contract, but again, I don't know that for sure.
If that's true tho, I'm not at all impressed with the graphite models, and would probably never consider getting a Moses neck for bass. I haven't played one of the fiber models, but the graphite neck seemed lifeless to me.
This sounds very much like a Peavey style deal. Also - not many shops can actually produce carbon fiber / graphite. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that Peavey, Moses, and Modulus all use the same OEM for their individual neck specifications.

So it's one of the first ones? That's pretty dang cool. I like the reason they stopped putting the outline around the trussrod cover - It drove the ladies in the factory nuts trying to apply the decal neatly so they got rid of it. Too bad, it looks good. Nice score.
That T-40 has one of the most comfortable necks I've ever played. I'm just happy it's got a great home!!!!

i have a tl-6, 2 tl-5's and a t40. can i be a member? here is me and my 6 and the t40. i will have to try and get some shots of one of my tl-5's. the other unfortunately was beat to death by its previous owner, so its off getting a custom paint job

i keep hearing about these TL-6's but have never seen one for sale. I need a six but just waiting till something pops up. Hope I run into one. Love my T-40 and it has turned me on to the Peavey line. Also would love to have a Quad but a little pricy. there is one in the classifieds for $1200.00.
Quick q for the US Peavey folk. I have an AC BXP (love it), but drooling over the Cirri. But... went and played one, and the neck is pretty substantial, almost like a P. Flatter and nicer, but still pretty thick. Is that normal? Is the US Millenium more jazz-y, thin & fast type?
I still liked the Cirrus, beautiful flamed blue & maple, but not sure if the neck is right for me.

Someone with more in the way of specifics regarding dimensions may be better able to answer this, but I think the necks are all pretty similar in terms of depth on the all of the Millenniums and Cirri, U.S. and BXP. I know the U.S. Millennium is .25 inches wider at the nut than your BXP, so the Cirrus might be too. Possibly a little flatter too.
But, based on my own experience if I had to guess what you are sensing is the longer scale length. The longer length on the Cirrus adds tension to the strings and, to my mind at least, makes it feel like you are playing a bigger neck.
I don't think a Cirrus is close to a P bass though. I like Cirrus necks. P bass necks, not so much.
i found this one on cl in austin for 600.00, which for what it is i think is a smoking deal. every now and then one comes up on evilbay but not very often. let me put it to you this way. i own an alembic, rickenbacker, fender, spector, guild, tobias and a couple of others and the tl-6 is the one that goes to all the gigs, with a tl-5 as a backup
i would put it up against anything out there at any price.
Yeah, it's definitely better than a P neck (IMO), it's just significantly thicker than my lil' ol' AC BXP. Might bop over at lunch and try it out again. Only thing holding me back from a US Millennium is the single in the neck spot. I've gotten used to having a humbucker under, like the AC BXP. Silly little nit, but if I'm picking out a dream bass...
